After blaming “idle time” on a recent carjacking and murder of an Uber Eats driver,  DC authorities continue to divert blame from the teenage girls who were responsible for this horrific act of violence.

DC’s Mayor, Muriel Bowser, posted a tweet on Sunday blaming the victim for his own murder. Bowser wrote:

“Auto theft is a crime of opportunity. Follow these steps to reduce the risk of your vehicle becoming a target. Remember the motto, #ProtectYourAuto.”

After facing significant backlash she deleted the tweet.

That was all that was said by Mayor Bowser in response to the driver, Mohammad Anwar’s, tragic death. Rather than condemning the actions of these teens she simply advised the public to ‘lock your car’.  Although some theorize that this was a prescheduled tweet, there was no follow-up response to the backlash she received. Although the backlash was clearly noticed since the tweet was soon deleted, there was no apology nor explanation given.
