Talk about a wake-up call!
We’ve all been thinking it, muttering it under our breaths, perhaps even voicing it to friends and family in the safety of our homes.
But leave it to the fearless Megyn Kelly to shout it from the rooftops: If you’re on the American team, you represent America.
Plain and simple.
Megan Rapinoe’s recent antics?
Nothing short of a slap in the face to every patriot in this country.
Women’s soccer, a sport that should be about unity, teamwork, and representing our nation, has been hijacked by one woman’s agenda.
And Megyn Kelly is calling it out, loud and clear.
Ladies and gentlemen, let’s put this into perspective.
You’re donning the jersey of the U.S. Women’s World Cup team.
That’s an honor, a privilege.
That jersey isn’t just a piece of cloth; it’s symbolic of our nation’s pride, history, and unity.
So when you kneel during the anthem, when you poison the very team meant to stand as one, united under that flag, you’re doing a disservice not just to the team but to the entire country.
“This isn’t just about soccer,” Kelly powerfully declared on her show. “This is about respect. Respect for the nation, respect for the flag, respect for your teammates.”
And she’s right.
The audacity of Rapinoe to turn something so universally celebrated—sportsmanship and national pride—into a divisive spectacle is nothing short of disgraceful.
Remember the goosebumps you’d get watching athletes beam with pride as the national anthem played?
Remember the unspoken unity, the chills as everyone stood as one, honoring the land of the free and the home of the brave?
Thanks to Rapinoe and her misguided antics, those moments are now overshadowed by controversy.

It’s not just Megyn Kelly who’s saying it.
Hope Solo, a respected figure in the world of soccer, a two-time Olympic gold medalist, has confirmed Rapinoe’s role in the divisive actions.
The bullying, the pressure to kneel—this isn’t teamwork; this is coercion.
So, here’s the bottom line: If you’re not proud to wear that jersey, if you can’t stand tall and honor the anthem of the country you’re representing, then why are you on the team?
Megyn Kelly, a voice of reason in an age of chaos, has it right: it’s time for a reality check.
If you can’t respect the flag, can’t respect the nation, then perhaps it’s time to step off the field.
According to the Western Journal:
Podcaster Megyn Kelly torched soccer player Megan Rapinoe, saying the 38-year-old benchwarmer for the U.S. Women’s World Cup team is not only fading athletically, but has also poisoned the team with her anti-American rhetoric.
For the legions of people who don’t follow women’s soccer (because it’s boring), the U.S. Women’s World Cup team is under fire for its lackluster performance at this year’s World Cup, as well as for their disgraceful antics during the national anthem.
“These morons on the women’s soccer team continue to embarrass us on the national stage,” Kelly said on Wednesday’s episode of “The Megyn Kelly Show.”
The former Fox News host said Rapinoe is responsible for the team’s polarizing shenanigans because the rabid Black Lives Matter supporter pressured her teammates to kneel during the Star-Spangled Banner at the height of the BLM riots.
This was confirmed by retired soccer star Hope Solo, a two-time Olympic gold medalist and former goalkeeper for the U.S. Women’s National Team. According to Solo, Rapinoe bullied her teammates into disrespecting the national anthem.
“Megan Rapinoe, she’s the leader of all this,” Kelly said. “She didn’t make the team exactly. She’s on the team, but she’s on the sidelines. She’s not a starter, so that’s why she’s not on camera when they’re doing the national anthem. But she’s behind a lot of this.
“She’s poisoned the entire team against the country for which they play. And I don’t know about you, but I’m watching this team, I’m not rooting for them. I’m not with them. I hope they lose … It’s shameful. These girls are shameful. They ought to be ashamed of themselves.’
What happened to the days when athletes put on their country’s jersey with pride, with honor?
When did wearing the stars and stripes become a burden?
When representing the USA on the global stage becomes an “inconvenience,” it’s time for us, the fans, the backbone of the sport, to ask some tough questions.
Who knew that the iconic American pastime of gathering with friends and family, waving flags, and rallying behind our athletes would turn into an exercise of choosing sides?
Not based on the sport, but based on whether or not the players respect the very country they represent.
Kelly’s words echo the sentiments of countless Americans watching from home: “They clearly don’t want to be doing it.”
And that’s a gut punch.
It’s disheartening to see the very people who should be the epitome of national unity and pride appear as if they’d rather be anywhere else but representing their country.

How do you root for a team that seemingly has so little respect for your homeland?
A team that won’t sing the anthem, won’t place their hand over their hearts, and when they do, they do it half-heartedly?
The Women’s World Cup should be a celebration of talent, teamwork, and unity.
But instead, thanks to the divisive actions of a few, it’s become a spectacle of division.
The New York Post has more details on Megyn Kelly’s comments:
“She’s poisoned the entire team against the country for which they play,” Kelly said.
“I don’t know about you, but I’m not rooting for them. I’m not with them. I hope they lose … It’s shameful.”
The Post has sought comment from Rapinoe and the US women’s soccer team.
[Megyn] Kelly also took players to task for “celebrating out there like they’ve just won the whole thing” after the team barely avoided elimination in the group stage with a scoreless draw against underdog Portugal on Tuesday.
“They’re making fools of themselves,” Kelly said.
“They won’t sing the national anthem, half of them won’t put their hands over their hearts, even the ones who are singing are half-assing it,” Kelly said.
“They clearly don’t want to be doing it. I mean, they look like they don’t even want to be there.”
Kelly added: “It’s like some sort of inconvenience to be representing the USA.”
Kelly’s not alone in her sentiments.
Many Americans find themselves conflicted, torn between supporting their nation’s team and their unwavering love for their country.
It’s a sad state of affairs when you find yourself hoping your country’s team doesn’t advance—simply because they’ve made it abundantly clear that they’re not playing for you, the fan, nor for the nation.
To the U.S. Women’s soccer team: Remember who you’re playing for.
Remember the millions watching from home, wanting to be proud, wanting to cheer you on.
Your job isn’t just to play soccer; it’s to unite a nation under a common banner.
Don’t let division and disdain overshadow talent and teamwork.
Don’t rob Americans of the pride they so desperately want to feel when they see you on that field.
