Donald Trump confirmed Melania’s mother, Amalija Knavs, 78, is “very ill” and the situation has been “tough” for their family.

Melania Trump skipped New Year’s Eve celebrations at Mar-a-Lago because she was with her mother at a nearby hospital.

Trump addressed the crowd to give them the news.

“Hopefully she’ll be recovering,” Trump said.

The New Year’s Eve celebration included entertainment by Vanilla Ice, who performed his greatest hits on stage while Trump stood motionless behind his chair in the middle of the ballroom.

The singer was joined on stage by a performer dressed as Michelangelo the Ninja Turtle who danced next to him.

‘The New Year’s Eve celebration at Mar-a-Lago was awesome. We danced we celebrated. We had a great time,’ he said afterward.

Trump’s close aide Walt Nauta – who is also embroiled in the legal case regarding alleged mishandling of classified documents within Mar-a-Lago – was seen standing next to the former president enjoying the spectacle.

The 2024 presidential contender also signaled that he plans to hit the ground running as early voting states Iowa and

New Hampshire’s GOP caucuses and primaries begin later this month.

‘We are going to have a great 2024. We are going to make America Great Again!’

Trump’s confirmation that Melania’s mother is in poor health comes as the former first lady wasn’t in family Christmas images posted to social media.

Knavs has been sick in the hospital, according to multiple reports – and the former first lady was by her mother’s side instead of at Mar-a-Lago celebrating the holidays with her family.

Melania Trump also spent Christmas with her ailing mother.

A source told Fox News Digital that she did not attend the Trump family Christmas celebration at Mar-a-Lago so she could spend time with her mother.

There were outrageous and widespread attacks after Trump family photos appeared without Melania.

Per Fox News:

“Melania has always been very devoted to her entire family,” a source close to Melania Trump told Fox News Digital. “It should be no surprise that she spent this Christmas with her ailing mother.”

Former President Donald Trump and Melania’s son, Barron, attended the Christmas dinner with his father and other family members at Mar-a-Lago.

The former first lady, in an interview with Fox News Digital earlier this year, said she fully supports her husband’s presidential campaign and looks forward to “restoring hope for the future and leading America with love and strength” during a possible second term in the White House. She told Fox News Digital it would be a “privilege” to serve as first lady again.

Trump said that if she has “the privilege” to serve as first lady again in 2024, she would continue to prioritize initiatives focused on the well-being and development of children, to ensure they have the “support and resources they need to reach their full potential.”
