Nancy Corinne Prowda, the oldest daughter of Nancy Pelosi, has been photographed accompanying 89-year-old Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) around the halls of Congress, acting as a caretaker following Feinstein’s recent battle with shingles and subsequent brain infection. Rumors have begun to swirl that Prowda is angling to aid Adam Schiff’s Senate campaign, which she has vehemently denied.

After returning from a 10-week-long leave of absence, Feinstein has recovered from a serious case of Shingles and has returned to Washington. However, serious questions remain about whether she has the mental and physical capabilities to properly serve in her role as a Senator.

Feinstein is clearly suffering from memory lapses and confusion since her return to Congress. Amid rising calls for the declining Senator’s resignation, former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi condemned these arguments as sexist.

This week, it was reported that Pelosi’s eldest daughter has been acting as a caretaker for Feinstein, raising suspicions that she was there to ensure Feinstein remained in office to finish out her term.

Keeping Feinstein in office would benefit California Democrat Rep. Adam Schiff, who is vying to replace Feinstein in the Senate in 2024. Feinstein announced in February that she would not be seeking reelection.

It has been rumored that Pelosi, who has endorsed Schiff in the primary, is angling to keep Feinstein in office to prevent California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) from appointing Rep. Barbara Lee to the seat as a temporary replacement.

Newsom promised in 2021 that he would appoint a black woman to the Senate and Lee, being a black woman, would allow the Governor to fulfill his promise.

If Feinstein resigned and Lee was appointed to her seat, Schiff’s chances of winning the seat would decline.

A spokesperson for Feinstein and Prowda has denied the allegations of Prowda’s role as caretaker being politically motivated.

In a statement to the Daily Mail, the spokesperson said, “Nancy Corinne and Senator Feinstein have been friends for decades. Nancy Corinne has been supporting her in her shingles recovery.”

“Speaker Emerita Pelosi and Senator Feinstein have been friends since long before their service in Congress – and their friendship is personal, not political. Anyone who knows Senator Feinstein knows that her service in the Senate is entirely her own decision, and Speaker Emerita Pelosi would never suggest otherwise.”
