The San Francisco 49ers had a scary moment at their training camp when defensive end Tarron Jackson collapsed on the field.

According to reports, Jackson collapsed after being blocked during an 11-on-11 team drill.

Trainers rushed to Jackson’s side, and moments later, he was placed on a stretcher.

“He’s conscious inside communicating with us. He can feel all his extremities, and they’re taking him down to Stanford now just for further testing,” head coach Kyle Shanahan said.

Practice did continue after the incident.

“It’s always hard like that, especially when guys watch that,” Shanahan said, according to NBC Sports Bay Area. “We were close to him, so we could hear him talking, see everything moving, so I just told the guys that, which eases them up a little bit for the biggest fears.

“I asked them if they were OK to continue to go, and they all yelled ‘yes’ and we finished the last period and a half.”

The 49ers are still in the early stages of training camp and have not practiced with pads on yet.

Jackson had signed with the 49ers’ practice squad in January before being signed to a futures contract following the 2024 season.

He has spent training camp working with the third-string defensive line this year.

Jackson would enter his fourth NFL season if he makes the team’s 53-man roster.

The Philadelphia Eagles drafted Jackson in the sixth round in 2021.

Fox News noted:

Jackson’s production was off the bench, as he collected 18 tackles and one sack over 17 games his rookie year. He saw just four appearances in 2022 before he was waived by the franchise midway through the season.

He would go on to join the Eagles’ practice squad, remaining in place there through the 2023 season. Then, in 2024, the Carolina Panthers came calling and Jackson signed with them.

He went on to play three games for Carolina last season, though he saw just 28 defensive snaps and 21 special teams plays.

The 27-year-old signed with San Francisco in January with hopes of impressing yet another team enough to earn a spot come Week 1.
