Jerry Richardson’s incredible act of kindness is heartwarming and inspirational.  Paying $10,000 to each of the victim’s families will help so much but I’m hoping someone like Richardson comes forward to pay for the education of the children of the victims. The Singleton family comes to mind only because the college education for Mrs. Singleton’s son needs to be paid. In case you hadn’t heard of Chris Singleton, here’s his incredible interview with the press just one day after his mom was killed:

Following an inspirational “unity march” on Sunday, where thousands of South Carolinians, black and white, turned out to pay their respects for the nine African-American churchgoers brutally murdered last week, it was learned that the owner of the local NFL franchise has also stepped up– to the tune of $100,000.

Jerry Richardson, the billionaire owner of the NFL’s Carolina Panthers, said in a letter dated Friday that he will pay for the funeral costs of the victims, according to the Charlotte Observer.
letter

“Please accept the enclosed check from the Carolina Panthers in the amount of $100,000 to provide $10,000 per family to help defray funeral costs and other financial needs of each,” the owner said in the letter.

“[A]nd $10,000 for the church as a memorial honoring the victims,” he added. “Our hearts are one with those who grieve the loss of these individuals.”

The Observer said the team declined to release an official statement about the gift, but spokesman Steven Drummond said in a text: “We don’t want to comment on the specifics of the donation, but know our hearts are one with those who grieve the loss of these individuals.”

South Carolina state Rep. Bakari Sellers posted a photo of the letter on social media Saturday.

Here’s his post and a small sampling of responses from Twitter:
