NY Governor Andrew Cuomo is calling for two police officers to be fired for shoving an older man during the riots last week in Buffalo, NY. He claims that the video of the incident made him sick to his stomach.

The Mayor of Buffalo, New York Byron Brown, spoke out about the incident between police and an older man that has gotten national attention because of the graphic video taken during the confrontation.

On Friday, Mayor Brown explained the incident and why he would not be firing the two officers involved.

Fox News reports that the mayor described Matin Gugino, a 75-year-old man who was shoved to the ground by two police officers as an “agitator” who had been asked to leave the area “numerous” times:

“What we were informed of is that that individual was an agitator. He was trying to spark up the crowd of people. Those people were there into the darkness. Our concern is when it gets dark; there is a potential for violence.”

“There has been vandalism, there have been fires set, there have been stores broken into and looted. According to what was reported to me, that individual was a key major instigator of people engaging in those activities.”

It turns out that Gugino is a longtime activist from Amherst who has a history of protesting. He recently tweeted:

The video shows Gugino walking up to an officer in tactical gear. Someone shouts, “Push him back!”

One officer pushes the man who stumbles and falls to the ground. Blood begins to pool around his head.

Mayor Brown suspended two officers prompting 57 officers from the  Emergency Response Team to resign in support of their colleagues.

Governors like Cuomo are the problem and not the solution.
