NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio and wife Chirlane McCray were spotted strolling through Brooklyn’s Prospect Park last weekend. Prospect Park is 11 miles away from the mayor’s residence.

Gracie Mansion is in Manhattan, and Prospect Park is all the way in Brooklyn, so one local biker spoke out (video below) to tell the mayor he felt the “non-essential travel” was “extremely selfish.”

Twitter user Darren Goldner spotted de Blasio out for a stroll Saturday in Brooklyn and confronted the mayor and his wife as he filmed the exchange (see video below):

“Seriously, you guys have a park. You live in the middle of a park. You don’t need to not essentially travel to Brooklyn.”

“This is selfish behavior. This is so terribly selfish. You call yourself a progressive, but you chauffeur yourself to Brooklyn. You force people to drive you. This is ridiculous. This is the epitome of non-essential travel.”

This is another example of the elitist behavior of officials ignoring the rules that they put in place:

Mayor de Blasio ignores the rules because he doesn’t feel they apply to him:

Gardner was outraged to see the mayor and his wife,  He accused them of traveling to Brooklyn with an entourage of four SUV’s without good reason. Mayor de Blasio has been widely criticized for keeping city streets shut down to pedestrians during the coronavirus crisis.

Do you feel it’s ok for officials to ignore the rules that they put in place?
