In a funny video posted on his Twitter account, an Olympic gymnast puts his Olympic-issued cardboard bed through the wringer. Checking it for strength and durability amid warnings that the beds collapse easily with too much movement or weight.

Yesterday we reported that this year’s athletes are being given the boxed beds, labeled “anti-sex” beds, which are designed to collapse under the weight of more than one person, in an effort to stave off a Covid outbreak. Tokyo is certainly doing its part to stop the spread, a suggestive yet fitting play on words.

The New York Post hilariously warns,

Lustful Olympic athletes should think twice before making the bed rock in Tokyo.

The world’s best sports competitors are set to spend their nights on cardboard beds — allegedly designed to collapse under the weight of fornicators to discourage sex amid COVID-19.

Not content to take their word for it, the curious Irish gymnast Rhys McClenaghan decided he’d put his bed to the test, jumping up and down on it and coming to the conclusion that the warnings are nothing but disinformation and fake news.

Speaking while jumping, McClenaghan says, “In today’s episode of fake news at the Olympic games, the beds are meant to be “anti-sex”. They’re made out of cardboard, yes, but apparently, they’re meant to break on any sudden movements.” At the end of the short clip, he concludes “it’s fake –  fake news”.
