On July 19, at a campaign trail stop in New York State, a man tried to stab US Rep and GOP candidate for NY governor, Lee Zeldin (R-NY), with a sharp object. The man was arrested and charged with a felony.
The would-be-attacker, 43-year-old David G. Jakubonis, took a blade out of his pocket and lunged at Zeldin. Rep. Zeldin managed to block the first attack, and Jakubonis was tackled and held to the ground before he could harm anyone.
Jakubonis was released within hours.
Sadly, Rep. Zeldin had predicted that his attacker would be released under the state’s lax laws for dangerous individuals.
Three days before the shooting incident at Zeldin’s home, his far-left Democrat opponent Kathy Hochul who became the governor of New York after Andrew Cuomo resigned in disgrace, tweeted about Zeldin signing onto an abortion ban without exceptions for rape or incest. Hochul said Zeldin fits her definition of “extremism.”
Lee Zeldin signed onto an abortion ban without exceptions for rape, incest, or the life of the mother. This is the definition of extremism — and I will never let it take hold in New York.

It is now being reported that two men who were hiding under bushes in front of Zeldin’s Long Island family home have been shot. Zeldin’s two teenage daughters were home at the time of the shooting.
Politico reports – Zeldin said in a statement that he does not know the identities of the two people who were shot but that they were found under his porch and in the bushes in front of his home in Shirley, New York.
The congressman and his wife were not at home at the time of the shooting, but their teenage daughters were in the home and heard gunshots and screaming, he said in the statement released by his office.
Thank you to all who reached out regarding the 2 people shot this afternoon outside my home. Mikayla and Arianna were at the kitchen table doing homework. One of the bullets landed just 30 ft away. They acted very swiftly and smartly and Diana and I are extremely proud of them. pic.twitter.com/7oo6IwhTf5

Police officers were at his home investigating Sunday evening and were looking over the home’s security cameras. The two people who were shot were taken to local hospitals, he said.
The Suffolk County Police Department issued a brief statement saying it was investigating the shooting, which appeared to have no connection to Zeldin’s family. Police had no information to release about who fired the shots or who first found the two people shot, a spokeswoman said.
Addressing a massive increase in crime in New York City has been at the forefront of Zeldin’s campaign. Violent crime is up significantly under Democrat leadership at the highest levels in New York and New York City. The video shared on Twitter by
Bea A . Stephens looks like something you’d see in a third-world country.
When you see Kathy Hochul's New York looks like it's worse then a third-world country, it's important to vote for Lee Zeldin on November 8th.
Fun fact: Gov. Kathy Hochul was never elected, she was installed just like a toilet bowl. pic.twitter.com/wqq2DSijD5

It’s a shame that Rep. Zeldin, who is championing an anti-crime strategy for his campaign, has been the victim of violent crime twice in the past several months.
