How the Bataclan siege ended

Four men who attacked the Bataclan theatre were themselves killed when police stormed the building, including three who activated explosives belts, several sources said.

“Three of them blew themselves up and a fourth, who was also wearing a belt, was hit by police fire and blew up as he fell,” one source said.

Death toll ‘passes 150

CNN is reporting that at least 153 people were killed in the Paris attacks – 112 at the Bataclan, according to the interior ministry.

Further suggested links to Syria

One of the assailants in Paris mentioned France’s intervention in Syria’s war to justify the attacks, said a witness who was at the Bataclan.

“I clearly heard them say ‘It’s the fault of (French President Francois) Hollande, it’s the fault of your president, he should not have intervened in Syria’. They also spoke about Iraq,” said Pierre Janaszak, a radio presenter.

The prefect, Michel Cadot, said the one set of attackers was at the stadium and at nearly the same time the second group attacked within the city.

Cadot said all the attackers are believed dead, although authorities are hunting for any possible accomplices.

Three suspected jihadists were killed when police stormed the venue, police sources said.

A French government official said the country’s state of emergency has gone into effect and that President Francois Hollande is cancelling his trip to the G-20 meeting in Turkey. Hollande was due to leave on Saturday for the meeting in Turkey, which was to focus in large part on growing fears of terrorism carried out by Islamic extremists. The official, who was not authorised to be named, said the government will hold a defense council meeting in the morning.

‘They burst in and started spraying bullets’

More from Rory Mulholland who is on the streets of central Paris: One young man who gave his name as Hervé spoke to The Telegraph in the street near the Bataclan rock venue said he had escaped through an emergency exit. “Three men with Kalashnikovs and wearing flak jackets burst in in the middle of the concert. There were probably around 1,000 people there. They just started spraying bullets. I saw a girl hit right in front of me. There must have been quite a few dead.” He said the men were not wearing masks and that they were in their 20s or 30s.

Isil celebrates Isil supporters have been celebrating the terrorist attack on Paris using the hashtag “Paris ignites”. An Isil supporter called al-Mouhed al-Tourkomani wrote: “Allahu Akbar…Allahu Akbar die with your rage, and explode with your defeating.” Isil has not, at this stage, claimed responsibility for the attacks.
