On Friday, the San Francisco Superior Court released the bodycam footage of the attack on Paul Pelosi at his home in October. On the same day, Pelosi’s attacker, David DePape, called into a California Fox news station from jail to deliver a disturbing message “for everyone in America.”
“Now that you all have seen the body cam footage, I have an important message for everyone in America: You’re welcome,” said DePape.

Stunned, the news anchor who took the call was only able to stutter before DePape began a chilling speech.
“Freedom and liberty isn’t dying, it’s being killed systematically and deliberately. The people killing it have names and addresses. So I got their names and addresses so I could pay them a little visit. Have a heart-to-heart chat about their bad behavior.”
“The tree of liberty needs watering, he needs men of valor. Patriots willing to put their own lives on the line to stand in opposition of tyranny,” DePape continued, seeming to issue a bizarre call to action.
Pelosi’s assailant then made a sickening statement.
“I would also like to apologize. I want to apologize to everyone. I messed up. What I did was really bad. I’m so sorry I didn’t get more of them,” he said. “It’s my own fault. No one else is to blame. I should’ve come better prepared.”

DePape is a Canadian citizen whose social media history shows he is a troubled man. His posts include obscene re-writes to Disney songs from YouTube, including one titled: ‘Do you want to **** a snowman?’ His post includes the n-word and one titled ‘This is what a dumb b***h looks like. Others were titled: ‘Noah survived the collapse of Atlantis,’ ‘Pedophile normalization,’ ‘Facts are Racist,’ ‘Communist Voodoo science,’ ‘I’m not sexist’ and ‘Feminist gets owned.’
He has also posted long rants about Jesus being the antichrist.
Last fall, an ex-girlfriend of DePape, Gypsy Taub, reported that he suffers from mental issues. She said that for about a year and a half, he lived on the street and was incredibly paranoid. DePape also believed that he was “Jesus for a year.”
Taub oddly contradicted the picture that the media is painting of DePape as a right-wing extremist. She reported that he supported Obama and agreed with her progressive viewpoints. They were both “against the shadow government,” according to Taub.
