Perez Hilton’s family has shared a sobering new update after several days of uncertainty surrounding the celebrity blogger’s hospitalization.
The latest word is hopeful — but it also makes clear that Hilton faces a difficult road ahead.
The Gateway Pundit reported Saturday that Hilton remains hospitalized in Florida and is being held under the state’s Baker Act following the crisis at his Miami-area home. The report arrived four days after emergency responders transported him from the property Tuesday night.
His family described his condition as serious but stable. They said he experienced significant blood loss and suffered injuries that will require surgery in the coming days.
The update did not identify the specific procedure, and no discharge date has been announced. It also gave no timetable for when Hilton might be able to speak publicly.
Communication with Hilton has reportedly been extremely limited and restricted to immediate family members, medical providers and others directly involved in his care.
There was one encouraging development: family members said they were able to make contact with him Thursday, giving them hope as treatment continues.
They also warned that his treatment and recovery will be a long process. Hilton was able to spend time with his mother and sister during the hospitalization.
The report added that the physical injuries are serious enough to require an operation rather than routine wound care alone. No date for his release has been announced, and the family has not identified the hospital or offered a timetable for when he might speak publicly.
That is a major change from the limited information available when the story first broke.

A second outside-the-home update reported that he had been transported for medical care:

Hilton’s family and team first addressed the public Wednesday morning. They confirmed that he was receiving medical care and said their full attention was on his well-being.
That initial statement did not disclose his condition or explain what treatment he might need. It thanked people for their prayers and support while asking the public to respect the privacy of Hilton and his family.
The family said it would share more information when it was able to do so. The later update appears to be the first detailed account of his condition since emergency responders took him from the home.
The family’s language has remained careful throughout the ordeal. It has not speculated publicly about what triggered the crisis, and it has emphasized medical care, privacy and the well-being of Hilton’s children instead of amplifying the footage circulating online.
The Daily Beast reported that the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office received multiple calls Tuesday night about a person livestreaming acts of self-harm.
The sheriff’s office said the person was safely recovered and transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to a local hospital for medical attention. A Crisis Response Unit and licensed mental-health professionals were also at the scene to provide support and resources to the family.
Authorities said Hilton was alone inside the home when deputies made contact. His three children were not present during the police intervention.
Florida’s Baker Act gives authorities a legal process for emergency mental-health evaluation when there is reason to believe a person may pose an immediate danger to themselves or others. It is intended to connect a person in crisis with assessment and treatment, not to serve as a criminal punishment.
Hilton, whose legal name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., became one of the best-known celebrity bloggers of the early internet era. He is 48 and the father of three children.
He had already endured serious medical problems earlier this year, including a lengthy hospitalization for severe sepsis and a later procedure to remove a blood clot from his leg.
For now, the clearest verified update is that Hilton is alive, stable and receiving care — but still faces surgery and what his family expects to be a long recovery.
