A political outsider is shaking up the race for U.S. Senate in Alabama to replace Sen. Tommy Tuberville, who is running for governor.
According to a new poll, Jared Hudson, a former U.S. Navy SEAL who founded an organization to fight human trafficking, surged to take the lead in the GOP primary.
The poll, conducted by Quantus Insights, has Hudson leading Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall by three points.
The poll also shows Tuberville dominating the gubernatorial race.

A day after Senator Tommy Tuberville announced his candidacy for Alabama governor, Jared Hudson announced he’s running to replace Tuberville.
ADVERTISEMENTThe former Navy Seal talked to WBRC’s Mike Dubberly on Good Day Alabama about his candidacy.
“I bring the needs, I bring the concerns of everyday Alabamians to the Capitol, where these things are often times decided. I would say over the last four years of the Biden administration, and even previous to that, we have people feeling like their voice is not heard,” said Hudson.
Hudson previously ran to be Jefferson County sheriff, but lost in 2022.
“Hudson is a former sniper & founder of Covenant Rescue Group, a nonprofit that combats human trafficking & child exploitation. During his recent appearance on the Shawn Ryan show, Hudson opened up about how he took out a terrorist from 2345 yards,” Collin Rugg wrote.

Hudson wrote in an op-ed for 1819 News:
I’ve seen war up close. I’ve bled for this nation and buried friends who gave everything for it. I’ve watched brave Americans shoulder impossible burdens while bureaucrats back home play politics with their lives. That changes how you see the world. It changes how you define “strength.” Real strength isn’t measured in how quickly you send troops overseas, it’s measured in how wisely you use the power God has entrusted to this nation.
That’s why we can’t hand the reins back to the globalists and neocons who never seem to learn. The same foreign-policy elites who gave us Iraq and Afghanistan are already itching for the next conflict – ready to spend American lives and dollars on another endless “mission” overseas while our own country struggles here at home. They call it strategy, but to the men and women who fight those wars, it looks a lot more like betrayal.
We’ve had enough of politicians who measure strength in body counts and debt. Real strength means putting America first – rebuilding our infrastructure, caring for our veterans, and making it possible for working families to afford a home again. It’s time to defend peace abroad and prosperity at home.
America is a constitutional republic, the arsenal of democracy and freedom around the world. And Alabama is the arsenal of the United States of America. We don’t just build weapons here; we build warriors, values and grit. The same spirit that makes Alabama strong is what keeps America free.
ADVERTISEMENTIt’s time we elect leaders who understand that strength is not aggression, and that peace must be earned through power, not apologies. Because America’s warriors deserve better. America deserves peace, through strength.
