Last night a group of rioters began lighting fires and smashing windows throughout downtown Portland last night. The widespread damage they caused was meant as a demonstration against police violence.

In an update posted by the Portland Police Bureau, Acting Chief Chris Davis said, “Damage to businesses hurts our City. Our community has made it clear that it will not tolerate wanton violence and destruction,” Davis continued, “No one is entitled to break windows, set fires, or attack police officers. If you choose to participate in this kind of criminal activity, you can expect to be arrested and prosecuted. None of this destruction tonight has anything to do with the important work of racial justice and reconciliation our community and our nation need at this critical time in our history.”

Although officially declared a riot, Leftist media continues to refuse this term, instead referring to the violent mob as “protestors”. However, throughout last night many locally owned businesses, including churches, had their windows smashed in and were left vandalized.

The Oregon Historical Society was targeted in this riot as well, signifying the terrorists’ fight against history. In the tweet linked below, a spray-painted message can be seen on the window, saying “no more history”. The Historical Society was already destroyed in last year’s riots and again has to pick up the pieces left from the ragings of the radical Left.

Destructive, violent riots took place in other cities last night, including Minnesota and Chicago.
