President Trump just called out the lawless California Governor over his refusal to guard the border. Governor Jerry Brown released a statement (see below)suggesting the feds had agreed to pay for 400 National Guard troops to be at the border. The problem is that Brown said the troops would NOT be enforcing immigration law and helping secure the border (see below).    President Trump wasn’t having any of Brown’s “charade” and tweeted this:

This all started a couple weeks ago when President Trump announced that, since funding for his border wall was stalled, he was calling on states to send National Guard troops to the border. A week later, there was another surprise when Gov. Jerry Brown announced that he would be sending 400 National Guard troops to the border to fight smuggling and drug trafficking:

Not so fast! The AP then reported that California was rejecting most of the actual jobs the border patrol wanted the troops to do….

“It will not be a mission to round up women and children or detain people escaping violence and seeking a better life. And the California National Guard will not be enforcing federal immigration laws.”

GOV BROWN’S STATEMENT:

 Following through on his commitment to fight transnational crime, Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced that the state will mobilize up to 400 California National Guard personnel to combat criminal gangs, human traffickers and illegal firearm and drug smugglers – within the state, along the coast and at the U.S.-Mexico border – after securing the federal government’s commitment this week to fund the mission. 

Consistent with the terms spelled out in Governor Brown’s letter last week, the Governor’s order, issued today, specifies that the California National Guard will not enforce immigration laws or participate in the construction of any new border barrier. 

Does anyone else see the irony in what Brown says his troops would do and what they won’t do? What Brown listed as things the National Guard could combat at the border are the exact things that prove we need a wall PRONTO!
