President Trump just put the radical Left on notice: Christopher Columbus is not being erased on his watch.
In a forceful new proclamation, President Trump officially declared October 12, 2026, as Columbus Day and ordered the American flag to be displayed on every public building in honor of Columbus and the generations who built this nation.
The President did not hedge. He praised Columbus as a man of courage, faith, and vision — and vowed that the legacy of his historic voyage would not be surrendered to the mob.
The proclamation immediately drew attention for what it said and what it refused to do.

The White House says Columbus’s 1492 voyage did more than cross an ocean. The proclamation describes it as a turning point that expanded the limits of the known world, carried the traditions of Western civilization across the Atlantic, and helped set history on the road toward the American founding.
President Trump highlighted the brutal reality of that journey: roughly 90 men spent more than two months aboard the Niña, the Pinta, and the Santa María, pushing through violent storms and an unforgiving ocean when turning back would have been the easier choice.
He also centered something modern politicians so often erase from the story — Columbus’s faith.
The proclamation recalls that when Columbus reached land, he raised a cross in devotion to Jesus Christ. President Trump connected that act of faith and courage to the settlers, pioneers, and patriots who later built the United States.
Then came the line that will drive the Left crazy.
President Trump declared that America will “never allow his legacy to be erased by radical extremists.”
The flag order gives that promise a visible national marker.

The proclamation fits a broader restoration of American history.
Earlier this year, President Trump installed a 13-foot replica of a Christopher Columbus statue on the White House grounds near the Eisenhower Executive Office Building.
The original monument had stood in Baltimore since President Ronald Reagan dedicated it in 1984. During the riots of 2020, vandals tore it down and threw it into Baltimore Harbor on the Fourth of July.
President Trump took the image of that destruction and reversed it. A monument the mob tried to drown now stands beside the White House.
The Washington Post reports that the President is expected to host a White House celebration honoring Columbus on Friday. The event will put the restored statue at the center of a broader message to Italian Americans and to every American tired of watching the country’s heroes dragged through the dirt.
The administration has also restored the Columbus Circle Fountain near Union Station after years of neglect, turning a wider defense of American history into something people can actually see.
The Left spent years pretending that tearing down statues was some kind of brave moral achievement. In reality, it was an attack on the idea that a nation is allowed to honor courage, discovery, faith, and the imperfect men whose actions changed the world.
President Trump is refusing to play that game.

The proclamation also recognizes the special place Columbus Day holds for Italian Americans.
For generations, the holiday has celebrated that voyage and the courage of millions of Italian-American families who strengthened this country while facing discrimination of their own.
Congress first called for a national Columbus Day observance in 1934. The holiday remains fixed in federal law for the second Monday of October.
President Trump’s order does not create a new holiday. It does something more important in this moment: it refuses to apologize for the one America already has.
That is the real line being drawn here.
One side believes America’s history should be dismantled, renamed, and hidden whenever the mob finds a new grievance. President Trump believes a confident nation remembers the courage that built it, tells the whole story, and refuses to let radicals decide which heroes are still allowed to stand.
This Columbus Day, the flag will fly over every public building.
And the statue the mob once threw into the water will stand beside the White House.
