As WLT Report previously reported, on Sunday, U.K. authorities arrested five men after they reportedly were planning an attack on the Royal Air Force Base (RAF) where thousands of U.S. troops are stationed.
The five men have been taken into custody on “suspicion of offenses under the Explosives Act.”
President Trump has released his first statement on the arrests and shared that the terrorists were looking to do big damage.
The New York Post provided further details on Trump’s response to the arrests:
President Trump suggested that several of the men who were nabbed and stripped down by British cops on terrorism charges had been under surveillance for some time.
On Sunday, British authorities apprehended five suspects accused of scheming a terrorist attack near a military base in the United Kingdom used by the US in the past, including for very limited strikes during the war against Iran.
Iran was being eyed as the most likely source of the terror plot after previously threatening the base, sources told The Telegraph. Locals called authorities about three suspicious vans near the scene, now believed to have been laden with chemicals.
“Working with Britain, it was an amazing job,” Trump told reporters on Sunday.
“We had them under investigation. They were looking to do big damage to our fort, and working with the British worked out great.”
“We had them under view for a long time and we got them.”

The Hill reported Rep. Kat Cammack believes Iran was behind the plot:
Rep. Kat Cammack (R-Fla.) said Sunday the Iranian government was “clearly” involved in an alleged terror attack authorities in the United Kingdom thwarted earlier in the day.
“The simple answer is that clearly Iran was involved, but of course that is going to be investigated and determined,” the congresswoman told Laura Ingle on “NewsNation Live.”

London Metropolitan Police said authorities received a call early Sunday morning local time regarding three suspicious vehicles traveling toward the base, as reported by The Associated Press. The nationalities of the arrested men are not public knowledge.
American forces have launched strikes against Iranian missile sites from the base. Cammack noted that on Sunday, telling Ingle the base is the “forward deployment area of our assets” engaged in the Iran war.
