For years, Republicans played defense on election integrity, scrambling to file legal challenges after bad rules were already in motion.

President Trump is done with that playbook.

The Republican National Committee has launched a multimillion-dollar election integrity operation in 17 states, with dedicated directors, local attorneys, poll workers, poll watchers, and election observers being put in place before the 2026 midterms.

The point is simple: the fight over ballot security cannot begin after Election Day.

As Fox News Digital reported, the RNC is building the kind of permanent legal and ground operation that Democrats have used for years, only this time Republicans are preparing before the rules are locked in.

Fox News Digital reported that RNC Chairman Joe Gruters unveiled a multimillion-dollar election integrity push ahead of the 2026 midterms, with the committee hiring directors in 17 states to recruit poll workers, poll watchers, and election observers. The operation will coordinate legal and Election Day oversight in battleground states, putting trained local people on the ground as the voting process unfolds.

Fox also reported that officials described those state directors as the legal eyes and ears for every vote cast and counted. Gruters said President Trump made the mission clear in 2024: secure the elections and keep building from there.

The structure means the party is no longer relying on a last-minute scramble when rules are already set.

The Fox report added that the effort is meant to be permanent and nationwide, backed by legal muscle and disciplined operations. It also said the RNC is building on its 2024 program, which officials said recruited more than 230,000 volunteers in 18 target states for poll watching, poll work, and legal support, along with more than 6,000 volunteer attorneys.

That is the right lesson from 2020 and 2024.

If Democrats can lawyer up before an election, Republicans have to do the same thing, only harder and earlier.

President Trump himself laid out the frame on Truth Social, pointing back to the 2024 operation and promising a bigger version for 2026.

Trump said the 2024 “Election Integrity Army” protected the sanctity of each legal vote and said Republicans will do the same again in 2026, only “much bigger and stronger.”

Gruters has now put numbers behind that promise.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, Gruters said the RNC has 130 lawsuits across 32 states and made clear he believes the party is already in a daily fight over how elections are run.

The Gateway Pundit reported that Gruters made the comments during a Fox News appearance, saying President Trump asked him to make sure elections are safe and secure and to build on the work done during the 2024 cycle. Gruters said Democrats are trying to cheat every single day, which is why Republicans have 130 lawsuits underway.

He said the RNC is bringing the hammer wherever it can, including in 32 states where litigation is active.

Gruters also pointed to fights over redistricting, illegal immigration, and efforts he said are aimed at finding ways for illegal aliens to vote. He said the committee is focused on keeping integrity in the system so Americans can have confidence in elections, and he said the RNC has already hired staff in 17 states while continuing a strong litigation push against Democrat efforts that he described as decades in the making.

One hundred and thirty cases is not a press release.

It is a legal offensive.

The whole strategy is to stop procedural games before they become election-night chaos.

The 17-state footprint matters because these are the states where ballot handling, voter rolls, mail-in procedures, poll access, and legal deadlines can decide whether election law is enforced or quietly rewritten by bureaucrats and judges.

National Review reported last month that the RNC already had 128 lawsuits across 32 states, giving the latest Gruters comments more context.

National Review reported in April that the RNC legal push was already operating at a massive scale, with Gruters saying the committee had 128 lawsuits across 32 states at that point. The article tied that effort to active election-law fights over ballot deadlines, voter-roll maintenance, ranked-choice voting, and rules that Republicans argue weaken election security.

Gruters told the outlet that even smaller legal victories can add up, because the goal is to make elections more safe and secure across multiple states at once.

The same report described Gruters as predicting that the RNC was close to one of its biggest election integrity wins, and it noted that the Justice Department had also weighed in on a Mississippi ballot deadline case. That is important because the 2026 fight is not limited to campaign messaging.

It is being fought in courts, state election offices, and on the ground before voters ever reach the polls.

Democrats have Marc Elias, activist groups, friendly judges, and a long habit of changing election rules through litigation.

Republicans finally appear to be answering with their own permanent infrastructure.

Poll watchers are being trained. Local attorneys are being retained.

Election observers are being credentialed. State directors are being placed where the legal fights will happen.

Getting voters to the polls has always been part of the Republican ground game.

But getting voters to the polls is not enough if the rules are rigged before the doors open.

President Trump understands that, and the RNC under Gruters is now acting like it understands it too.

The fight is no longer just about turnout. It is about making sure legal votes are protected before Democrats can turn process games into outcomes.
