President Trump on Monday signed an executive order withdrawing the United States from the UN Human Rights Council.

The executive order also halts funding to the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).

The UNRWA reportedly has ties to Hamas, the New York Post noted.

“Today’s Executive Order is the correct action by President Trump to deliver America First peace through strength moral leadership. The UN Human Rights Council is a den of human rights abusers and disgraceful and obsessive antisemitism. UNRWA must be defunded and dismantled. U.S. taxpayers dollars should NEVER prop up terrorism. Full stop,” UN Ambassador-designate Elise Stefanik said.

Trump, 78, is expected to sign an executive order implementing the changes Tuesday, the same day he is set to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

In the aftermath of the Oct. 7, 2023, attack against Israel, official and media investigations detailed that several planners and participants in the atrocity were on UNRWA’s payroll.

Per Axios:

Trump had also pulled the United States from the Human Rights Council and UNRWA during his first term, which former President Biden reversed.

Last year the Biden administration suspended U.S. funding to UNRWA after Israel accused some agency staffers of being involved in the October 7 terror attack.

Congress last year stopped all U.S. funding to UNRWA until March 2025.

Trump’s plan to sign the orders was first reported by Politico.

Trump’s orders will be signed on the same day he meets with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House.

Israel passed a bill recently that bans all contact with UNRWA. It also opposes the UN human rights council and sees it as a biased and anti-Israeli UN organ.

Trump told reporters at the Oval office on Monday ahead of his meeting with Netanyahu that he has no assurances that the ceasefire in Gaza will hold.
