We have less than two weeks before Congress is set to break for their yearly August recess — despite there being so much to do, like confirming President Trump’s nominations.

No other job in the world lets you take the entire month of August off — especially when there’s work to be done!

But, that all might change this year.

President Trump just called on Senate Majority Leader John Thune to call off August recess in order to get his picks confirmed ASAP.

Hopefully the very talented John Thune, fresh off our many victories over the past two weeks and, indeed, 6 months, will cancel August recess (and long weekends!), in order to get my incredible nominees confirmed. We need them badly!!! DJT

Earlier today, founder of the conservative Article III project Mike Davis called on President Trump to direct the Senate GOP to cancel August recess:

The Senate is set to begin confirming several of President Trump’s nominees starting next week.

From The Hill:

Senators are currently scheduled to confirm six Trump appointments on Monday and advance his pick to lead the Drug Enforcement Agency. Right now, members are set to take the month of August off.

The threat to cancel the recess could push senators to avoid stonewalling appointments. Trump’s most high-stakes nominees include Emil Bove, a lawyer for the Justice Department, to be a judge on a federal appeals court. Jeanine Pirro, a former Fox News host, is also up to be the top federal prosecutor in D.C.

Bove has garnered particular opposition from Democrats over a whistleblower complaint alleging that he said the Trump administration should consider telling courts “f— you” if they issued orders blocking migrant deportations. Bove has denied that he told lawyers in the Justice Department to violate a court order.

Get it done, Senate!

What do you think?

Should the Senate cancel their 5-week vacation and work through August to get some very important nominees confirmed?

I think that answer should be a resounding ‘yes,’ but we’ll see what happens…
