The 2018 Democrat gubernatorial candidate and former Mayor of Tallahassee Andrew Gillum, who was frequently compared to Barack Obama, has been indicted on 21 felony charges, including wire fraud, conspiracy, and making false statements.

In 2018, Barack Obama called the Florida governor’s race that pitted Republican Ron DeSantis against Democrat Andrew Gillum  the “most important election of our lifetime.”

“The consequences of any of us staying home really are more dangerous, because America’s at a crossroads,” Obama told his adoring audience.

“Maybe most of all, the character of our country is on the ballot,” Barack Obama told them.

Obama called the Democrat Tallahassee Mayor, “One of the most inspiring, gifted candidates that are running this year” and called on the crowd of his supporters to “make history happen.”

Barack Obama went out of his way to campaign for the dirty Democrat in 2018:

Newsmax reports on the disgraced Democrat – Gillum, 42, and Sharon Janet Lettman-Hicks, 53, were accused of unlawfully soliciting and obtaining funds from various entities and individuals between 2016-19 through false and fraudulent promises and representations indicating the funds would be used for a legitimate purpose, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Florida Jason R. Coody announced.

The 21-count indictment also alleges that the defendants used third parties to divert a portion of those funds to a company owned by Lettman-Hicks, who then fraudulently provided the funds, disguised as payroll payments, to Gillum for his personal use.

Both defendants were charged with 19 counts of wire fraud. Gillum also was charged with making false statements to the FBI.

Gillum and Lettman-Hicks could face up to five years for making false statements, 20 years for conspiracy to commit fraud, and 20 years for wire fraud.

Gillum, in a written statement to NBC News, acknowledged the case.

“I have spent the last 20 years of my life in public service and continue to fight for the people,” Gillum told NBC News. “Every campaign I’ve run has been done with integrity.

“Make no mistake that this case is not legal, it is political. Throughout my career, I have always stood up for the people of Florida and have spoken truth to power.

“There’s been a target on my back ever since I was the mayor of Tallahassee. They found nothing then, and I have full confidence that my legal team will prove my innocence now.”

Gillum made headline news when on March 12, 2020, Gillum was involved in a crystal meth overdose and alleged orgy incident at a Miami Beach hotel.

Candace Owens was first to report the incident that involved a male escort and an alleged orgy that took place in teh hotel room where Gillum was found naked.

Shortly after the news broke, Andrew Gillum released a statement, saying that he was “in Miami for a wedding celebration when first responders were called to assist one of my friends.” Gillum denied using meth, but admitted to having “too much to drink.” Gillum called the incident a “distraction” to “our movement.”

Travis Dyson, the 30-year-old Florida man who was found in the Miami hotel room with Democratic politician Andrew Gillum is a male escort who claims that while Gillum claims he was in Miami for a wedding, Dyson was not there for a wedding.

Heavy reports – Police said Dyson appeared to have suffered a drug overdose. He is conscious and in stable condition in a Miami-area hospital.

Dyson maintains a profile on a website for male escorts and is studying at a nurse practitioner school. Gillum has been married to R. Jai Gillum since 2009. The couple has three children together.

Only three months before the election, the Tampa Bay Times reported that much of the party establishment had written off Gillum eight months ago, amid revelations that Tallahassee City Hall was the focus of a public corruption investigation.

Fundraising all but dried up as the Tallahassee Democrat spit out ominous news nuggets: A federal grand jury last summer subpoenaed five years of city records related to redevelopment deals and developers, including a longtime friend, lobbyist and political ally of Mayor Gillum’s. … The FBI interviewed Gillum, who stressed that the FBI told him he was not “the focus” of their investigation. … A photo showed Gillum on a boat in New York City in 2016 with his lobbyist friend — Tampa native Adam Corey — and an undercover FBI agent who had been posing as a developer looking to do deals in Tallahassee.

He has not helped himself by refusing to discuss almost anything about the matter.

The Democrat reported in August that an undercover FBI agent may have invited Gillum to attend Hamilton on Broadway and a Mets game. Gillum last week would not even say whether he attended either.

“All I can confirm is I never did anything that I didn’t pay for,” he said, explaining that the FBI did not want him to discuss the case.

“All I would ask people do is follow the facts. I have not been mentioned in any one of the subpoenas so far that have been issued, not the public, not the private, not anybody who works for me.”
