For three years, Scott Johnson, Preya Samsundar and David Steinburg of PJ Media, have been investigating Ilhan Omar’s curious alleged marriage to her brother, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, while she was still “culturally” married to her current husband, Ahmed Hirsi.
In June 2019, Spectator USA reported – Omar’s campaign spokesman Ben Goldfarb summarized Omar’s conjugal arrangements in an email in August 2016, when Omar was running for Congress and her advisers were trying to stifle allegations of double marriage — with a man alleged to be her brother.
When conservative journalists in Minnesota raised the bigamy allegations in 2016, Omar issued a statement calling the allegations ‘baseless, absurd rumors’ and issued a statement accusing the journalists of ‘Islamophobia’. Her statement was taken verbatim from Goldfarb’s email. That same email appears to admit that the allegations are not without basis. Goldfarb describes how he tried to construct a denial based on ‘real background information’, but found it ‘impossible’:
“I’m not legally married to two people but I am legally married to one and culturally married to another”, I think it’s impossible without making it even more confusing.’ – Ilhan Omar
Curiously, a Christian minister, named Wilecia Harris, who is now a pastor at the Great and Mighty Works Ministries in Richfield, MN, married the Somali-American Muslim lawmaker to her alleged brother, while she was “culturally” married (according to Islamic law), to her current husband Ahmed Hirsi.
On July 31, 2019, a grainy video of Rep. Ilhan Omar (S-MN) leaving an out of the way restaurant in Playa Del Rey with a mystery man was released by a Jewish man who lives in CA. The unnamed person who took the video claims he was upset by Omar’s comments at a CAIR (Council For American-Islamic Relations) event the day before.
One week before the video was released, The Daily Mail reported that Rep. Ilhan Omar and Ahmed Hirsi, the father of her three children had split up and were heading for another divorce.
The 12-second video, obtained exclusively by DailyMail, shows Omar and her companion leaving a romantic, out-of-the-way Italian restaurant in California the day after she had made controversial remarks blaming 9/11 on ‘someone doing something.’
The New York Post is now reporting that according to a longtime friend, Rep. Ilhan Omar’s marriage appears to be headed for the rocks.
The congresswoman’s husband, Ahmed Hirsi, the source said, is poised to file for divorce after the revelation in a bombshell court filing that she allegedly had an affair with DC political consultant Tim Mynett.
Powerline Blog’s Scott Johnson is now reporting that Omar’s “cultural” husband that she allegedly cheated on with Mynett, is opening up to people in the Somali community about his cheating wife’s marriage to her brother.
In the past three weeks I have circled back to interview sources whom I have found to be highly reliable in the Omar saga. They open a window onto the scandals from the perspective of Ahmed Hirsi, her long-time partner and the father of her three children. According to sources, Hirsi is telling friends:
• that he will not go to jail for Omar;
• that while Omar did indeed marry her brother (Ahmed Elmi) for fraudulent purposes, Hirsi did not know at the time that she had married Elmi;
• that Omar is threatening Hirsi he would be in trouble along with her if the truth were to come out;
• that Omar has asked him to state publicly that all is well with their marriage even though it is completely done and finished; and
• that in fact they are living apart and have been divorced under Islamic law (although they remain legally married).
Having humiliated Ahmed Hirsi by her affair with Tim Mynett, Omar now wants Hirsi to perform public relations services for her to suppress the scandal.
Hirsi has maintained his silence through all the scandals so far. One may infer that there is a good reason why Hirsi has never spoken up on Omar’s behalf in any of these scandals. Hirsi’s knowledge of Omar’s conduct is knowledge of her wrongdoing.
Rather than respond in substance to questions based on the known facts and evidence, Omar has wildly accused us and others of bigotry. Among the others she has now implicitly accused of bigotry is the Star Tribune, which has treated Omar almost entirely as a hometown hero. This is how Omar rolled in the Star Tribune page-one story of June 23 on the state campaign finance board findings that gave new life to the scandals we have pursued:
Omar’s reticence is consistent with near total silence she has maintained for three years amid questions raised through public records picked over by conservative opinion journalists intent on proving that she committed immigration fraud. Those attacks, she once tweeted, are the provenance of “fake journalists on bigoted blogs.”
One year ago, Omar’s cultural husband Ahmed Hirsi posted this video of the allegedly happy couple celebrating 16 years of marriage.
Many of the posts on Hirsi’s Instagram account are of him with their children, minus Ilhan Omar. Hirsi brags about his daughter’s activism for gun-control in this Instagram post:
