Retired three-star Lieutenant General Gary Volesky suspended by army for Tweeting at Jill Biden

Retired three-star Lieutenant General Gary Volesky has been suspended from a “mentor” position within the US Army after making a sarcastic Tweet towards Jill Biden congratulating her for “finally” learning “what a woman is.”

General Volesky

Volesky made this Tweet in response to Jill Biden’s pro-abortion rant on Twitter after Roe v. Wade was overturned by the Supreme Court in June.

Jill Biden’s Tweet read:

“For nearly 50 years, women have had the right to make our own decisions about our bodies. Today, that right was stolen from us,” Jill Biden wrote in the aftermath of the Dobbs case. “And while we may be devastated by this injustice, we will not be silent. We will not sit back as the progress we have already won slips away.”

To which, Volesky replied simply

“Glad to see you finally know what a woman is.”

General Volesky is apparently the subject of an internal inquiry, although the precise subject of the inquiry is being kept hushed. The official statement from the Army regarding Volesky’s suspension is that

“Lt. Gen. Theodore Martin, commanding general of the Combined Arms Center, has suspended retired Lt. Gen. Gary Volesky from performing duties as a Highly Qualified Expert — Senior Mentor pending the outcome of the commander’s inquiry,”

Volesky has been quite open with his criticism of the Bidens, which is likely what led to the inquiry. He is not an active military-duty member and is employed as a civilian employee. The scope of the inquiry, along with the amount of time it will take, is undisclosed.
