Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel is facing an uphill battle to be re-elected.

She is facing challenges from formidable opponents, including prominent Republican attorney Harmeet Dhillon.

Republicans who believe that the party has misplaced its priorities and funds are backing Dhillon, but it seems like at this point in time McDaniel still has support from a majority of committee members.

Still, McDaniel did not help her case by picking a fight with the leader of one of the biggest conservative youth organizations in the country, Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.

McDaniel criticized Kirk and Turning Point USA for not using their resources to turn out Republican voters, while also saying that the organization lacks transparency because it doesn’t disclose its finances.

Kirk publicly replied to her on Twitter, saying that Turning Point USA has reached millions of voters and logged hundreds of thousands of volunteer hours during the 2022 midterm elections.

Revolver News Reports

Republican National Committee Chairman Ronna McDaniel criticized Turning Point USA and its co-founder Charlie Kirk on Brian Kilmeade’s Fox News radio show Wednesday, implying that TPUSA talked a big game but didn’t actually bring out the vote.

Her remarks come after she herself was heavily criticized by several speakers at Turning Point’s AmFest Convention in Phoenix last weekend, and she also lost a straw poll among participants asking who should be the next party chair. Attorney Harmeet Dhillon, who announced her candidacy on December 5 with the proclamation, “Republicans are tired of losing,” won in a landslide.

Several RedState writers including myself were at AmFest, and you can find our full coverage here.

McDaniel has also been under fire since RedState Managing Editor Jennifer Van Laar dropped a bombshell report earlier this month describing lavish spending at the RNC over the last several years.
