UPDATE: “The Dispatch,” a fact-checking organization hired by Facebook has deemed that Bobby Kennedy Jr.’s quote that he used in his debate with Alan Dershowitz: “The problem is, Anthony Fauci put $500 million dollars of our dollars into that vaccine. He owns half the patent!’ is inaccurate. The reason for their violation against our article is that they claim there is no evidence Dr. Fauci owns half the patent for Moderna. We never mention Moderna in our article. (See more information related to the fact-check violation below)
Valuetainment hosted a “friendly debate” between Alan Dershowitz and Bobby Kennedy Jr. about mandatory vaccinations versus voluntary vaccinations for COVID-19.
Patrick Bet-David, the host and founder of Valuetainment began the debate by showing a video of a statement made by Harvard lawyer, Alan Dershowitz a couple of weeks ago. In the clip, Dershowitz can be seen claiming that Americans have no constitutional right to endanger the public and spread COVID by refusing a vaccine, even if you disagree with taking it.
Dershowitz cited a US Supreme Court precedent that could compel Americans to get a COVID vaccination, “You have no right not to be vaccinated,” he said, adding, “You have no right not to wear a mask.” The Harvard lawyer continued, “If you refuse to be vaccinated, the state has the power to literally take you to a doctor’s office and plunge a needle into your arm.” Dershowitz continued, explaining that if the vaccination only protects you, you have the right to reject the vaccination, but if the vaccination is to prevent others from the spread of a contagious virus, you have no right to refuse to be vaccinated.
Democrat Robert Kennedy Jr., a lawyer, and environmentalist blasted Democratic politicians like Democrat Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) for trying to coerce social media CEO’s into silencing opposing views on the topic of cures for COVID.
“I think it is really important for our democracy to be able to have spirited, civil discussions about important issues like this. This is an issue that has been on the news 24 hours a day for the last four months and yet there’s no debate happening about this,” Kennedy said.

Kennedy said Dershowitz’s example of the government having the abilitty to drag a person into a doctor’s office and inject a needle into their arm, was an extreme read of the constitutional precedent. “When Alan and I were kids, people wanted to be vaccinated” adding that there “was no fear” and that “people had a tremendous trust in their health care officials” at that time. Kennedy asked “Why do so many Americans no longer trust our regulatory officials” or “trust the process?”
Kennedy warned of the dangers when dealing with vaccine companies, “The vaccine courts have paid out 4 billion dollars in damages,” Kennedy said, adding, “Congress has given vaccine companies complete blanket immunity against liability,” adding, “no matter how grievous your injury.”
At the 37:30 mark: “The problem is, Anthony Fauci put $500 million dollars of our dollars into that vaccine. He owns half the patent! He has five guys working for him who are entitled to collect royalties from that! So you have a corrupt system and now they’ve got a vaccine that is too big to fail!”
He continued, “And instead of saying this was a terrible, terrible mistake, they are saying we are going to order 2 billion doses of this and you’ve got to understand Alan with these COVID vaccines these companies are playing with house money. They’re not spending anything on it, and they have no liability. So, if they kill 20 people or 200 people or 2,000 people in their clinical trials—big deal. They have zero liability! And guess what, they’ve wasted none of their money because we’re giving them money to play with.”
Kennedy explained, “The FDA gets 50% of it’s budget from vaccine companies—from the industry—50%! The CDC has an 11.5 billion dollar budget and 4.9 billion of that is buying and selling and distributing vaccines. CDC is a vaccine company. It owns 57 vaccine patents, so it can make money on every sale of a vaccine.”
He continued to explain how the government agencies are tied to profits , “The NIH owns hundreds of vaccine patents.” Kennedy explained, “The rules at CDC are if you’re an NIH employee, you’re allowed to collect 150,000 in royalites on the sales those vaccines make. The vaccine part of those agencies is now the tail wagging the regulatory dog. They are not doing their jobs as regulators! And in fact, the the senior scientists at th CDC today—he is the author or co-author on all of the major studies that CDC has to produce on vaccine safety.”
We don’t frequently if ever, agree with a Kennedy, but when it comes to the business of vaccines, Robert Kennedy Jr.’s voice is an important one in the argument about the dangers of vaccines.
From The Dispatch fact-check violation that was used to make a charge against our website: In a recent debate with Alan Dershowitz, Robert Kennedy Jr. claimed that Dr. Anthony Fauci holds a patent for one of the drugs in vaccine trials for coronavirus. “The problem is Anthony Fauci put $500 million of our dollars into that vaccine [being produced by Moderna]. He owns half the patent,” said Kennedy. “He and these five guys who are working for him were entitled to collect royalties from that.”
We appealed the”false news” allegation against our website and 19 days later received the following response:
Even if the NIH has invested in any vaccines, it is inaccurate to say that Fauci himself owns half the patent.
While The Dispatch claims there is no evidence Dr. Fauci owns half the patent [for Moderna], there is also no evidence he does not own half the patent, other than an Axios article (which we never mentioned in our article) that states: The Axios article, which Kennedy cited in his article claiming the NIH owned half the Moderna vaccine, does not say what percentage of the patent would be owned by the NIH or, indeed, even attempt to put any number on the percentage of the NIH’s ownership.
