In what appears to be a never-ending crusade to take down President Donald Trump, AG Merrick Garland announced Friday that he would appoint a special counsel to investigate whether criminal charges should be filed against Trump.
The announcement comes three days after Trump announced his 2024 run for president.
Greg Price summed it up on Twitter; The GOP took the house, Trump announces he’s running, Republicans announce investigations into Biden’s business dealings, Merrick Garland appoints Special Counsel to investigate Trump. It’s so blatantly corrupt.

But true to typical Democrat deception, Press Secretary Jean-Pierre insists that the Biden Administration does not weaponize the DOJ to take down political opponents saying, “We do not politicize the Justice Department.”

Biden, Democrats, and RINOs have all attempted to attack Trump throughout his time as President and afterward. Trump represents the American people’s hope to take care of America and Americans first by Making America Great Again. Trump disrupted the political narrative by proving that promises to secure the border, become energy independent, and help Americans prosper were possible. He did what politicians promised for years but never delivered.
The populist movement is here to stay. Americans want their country back, they want to be united with their neighbors, and they recognize that politicians foment and thrive on division.
This is the new January 6 investigation.
The corrupt Department of Justice will investigate President Trump on the documents he brought with him to Mar-a-Lago when he left office and continue to try to connect him to unfounded charges relating to January 6.
Setting up a special counsel seems ill-timed in light of the FBI’s recent revelation that they did not find anything significant during their Mar-A-Lago raid, making the investigation nothing more than continual politically motivated harassment.

Garland appointed Jack Smith as special counsel in the investigation. However, Smith will be unable to return to the US for a while. Smith currently works in the Netherlands and is recovering from a recent bike accident, leading to a slew of jokes on whether he and Biden bike together.
You can't make this stuff up. The new Special Counsel for the Trump Mar-a-Lago case, Jack Smith, won't be able to come back from the the Netherlands right away due to a "bicycle accident." What, was he biking with Biden? pic.twitter.com/Nu4Ne8Zc6u

Garland is trying to sell the investigation as being in the interest of the public.
But perhaps with a Republican majority in the House, the funding for the special counsel won’t be available.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is calling on the house to refuse to appropriate any funding to Merrick Garland’s Special Counsel and defund any part of the DOJ acting on behalf of the Democrat party as a taxpayer-funded campaign arm for the Democrat’s 2024 presidential nominee.
