After it was announced that Russian agent Maria Butina plead guilty to ONE charge of being a Russian agent, the mainstream leftist media attempted to immediately tie plea deal to Mueller’s dead-end investigation into Trump campaign collusion with the Russian government.
A series of tweets by CNN’s legal analyst Renato Mariotti, is a perfect example of how the left is attempting to tie Butino’s efforts to infiltrate the NRA, as a way to meet “influential members” in the Republican Party.
10/ She then traveled to the U.S. in April 2015 to attend a NRA convention. and was introduced to "influential members" of the Republican Party, including Donald Trump. (As @washpost recently noted, she was later able to directly ask Trump a question.) https://t.co/sQtMf22SEJ

Fox News’ Katherine Herridge, one of the only real journalists remaining on televised news, breaks down the truth about Russian agent Maria Butina’s plea deal and how special counsel Robert Mueller has nothing to do with her case.
Herridge reports Russian agent Maria Butina has pleaded guilty to ONE charge of being an agent of a foreign government. Herridge reports, ” A lot of the hearing is also focused on what may be a violation of a gag order in the case.” Herridge explained that a federal judge has telephone recordings of a conversation she had with a journalist, saying that she was not supposed to be having conversations with anyone outside of her legal team.
According to Herridge, Butina plead to guilty to charges that she tried to influence American politicians as part of plea deal.
Herridge clarifies in a “very important footnote” that Butina’s case is NOT part of Robert Mueller’s special counsel investigation.
1/ The prevailing view of Maria Butina is that she is not only a spy, but that she could implicate Trump, GOP, NRA. Her plea doc shows none of this to be the case, and even abandons the most explosive of prosecutors' initial allegations.https://t.co/GWqH7LWuQj

From her plea agreement:
In June 2016, Butina received and F-a student visa to enter the U.S. In connection with her application, Butina did not disclose that she would be acting as an agent of a foreign government official or otherwise would be working to establish channels of communication between Russian and American government officials. (See screenshot below)
Butina’s plea deal document outlines only ONE charge of failing to register under the Foreign Agents Registration Act.
Butina’s failure to notify the US Attorney General that she would be acting in the US as an agent of a foreign government official is outlined in her plea deal.
Foreign policy and national security advisor for Mark Levin’s CRTV, Jordan Schachtel outlines how the media is twisting the Butina case, as they attempt to tie it to President Trump’s campaign. He also points out that Butina was NOT a spy.
Washington Post and Daily Beast journalist tweeted about “spy” Maria Butina, as she attempted to tie her to the Repbulican Party:
Alleged Russian spy Maria #Butina admitted in federal court Thursday morning to engaging in a conspiracy against the United States.

In repsonse to her tweet about Butina being a “spy”, Schactel tweeted:
Seeing a lot of people pushing out the narrative that Butina “admitted” to being a Russian spy. First, that’s ridiculous, given she did not at all operate in the shadows. Second, Butina took a deal after being locked up in solitary confinement for months.
Schactel continued, as he called out the media for another failed “gotcha” attempt by the media to tie Butina to Trump, the GOP and the NRA:
This is another “get Trump” case, where facts don’t line up, but legacy media and activists will use her case as tool to attack GOP, NRA, POTUS. Butina disclosed she was a Russian national working for RU. She was not a spy & no major crime was committed.

Schactel also called out the American government for keeping Butina in solitary confinement for five months, calling it a “Soviet-style show trial” and asking what the U.S will do when Moscow takes “reciprocal action?”
America is exceptional is because we believe in due process. This is not due process. Butina was treated to a Soviet-style show trial. She failed to file forms w/ DOJ, and for that she was locked up in solitary for months? Now what will we say when Moscow takes reciprocal action?

Schachtel warned: The inhumane treatment of Butina will be used by our adversaries (primarily Moscow) to showcase their supposed humanity over ours. She should never have been subject to months of solitary, which resulted in her being coerced to take plea deal.

One America News Network host Jack Posobiec asks the same important question:
Why is Maria Butina behind bars but Dianne Feinstein’s Chinese spy a free man?
https://twitter.com/JackPosobiec/status/1073275596749369346
Posobiec also rightly points out that Butina was NOT a spy:

Is anyone else getting tired of the media’s insatiable desire to tie Trump, his family and his campaign to the Russians? How about we start looking into the real Russian collusion with Hillary and Barack Obama and the underreported Uranium One deal?
