There’s so much misinformation about guns out there! It’s nuts! The perfect example is the AR-15:

According to the National Shooting Sports Foundation, “AR” does not stand for “automatic” or “assaultrifle. It stands for “ArmaLite” — the company that created the AR in the 1950s. And failed 2015 legislation that would have banned some semi-automatic guns did not classify the AR15 as an assault weapon.

Via Daily Caller:

One gun seller isn’t happy with Dick’s Sporting Goods decision to agree to the demands of gun control advocates.

Palmetto State Armory, a Columbia, South Carolina-based firearms company, went on record in support of the Second Amendment on Thursday, issuing a statement calling out Dick’s for referring to the AR platform as an “assault rifle” instead of the correct term — Armalite Rifle — and for caving to the demands of gun control proponents.

The Palmetto State Armory statement was a strong rejection of the propensity to blame the “tool” instead of the perpetrator, and included a call to “approach this negativity with humanity” with the hope that both sides can “have a civil and intellectual conversation that continues to make this amazing country better.”

Read the statement below, via NBC News2:

Palmetto State Armory would like to go on record stating that we support the Second Amendment. While this may seem like an obvious statement, we as a company felt it necessary to make our opinion known to the general public. Palmetto State Armory also strongly supports the First Amendment which enables individuals to voice their opinions, even those in contrast with our own. We believe that a primary purpose of the Second Amendment is actually to protect the First Amendment.

In regards to the actions taken today by the CEO of Dick’s Sporting Goods to no longer sell the AR-15 platform, while we do not agree with this decision, we recognize the fact that capitalism gives him the right to make this call. PSA however, does have an issue when misinformation is spread in the very next sentence by referring to the platform as an “assault rifle.” AR stands for Armalite Rifle which pays homage to the company that originally created the platform. To blame the rifle or a high capacity magazine for the actions of an evil man is illogical and is only applied when referring to firearms. Senseless acts of violence are a terrible plague on society that we all recognize we need to try and prevent as a community, but to blame a tool such as a firearm is at very best missing the point of the problem. When a vehicle is used to commit an act of violence we as a society do not blame the car, we do not blame the speed, or the steering wheel, but rather the driver. It is our hopes that we can approach this negativity with humanity and both sides of the argument can come together and have a civil and intellectual conversation that continues to make this amazing county better. We are all in this together, and we all want the same thing. Safety, happiness, and the “American Dream.” Keep reading…

OUR PREVIOUS REPORT ON DICK’S SPORTING GOODS:

BOYCOTT! Dick’s Sporting Goods has caved to the pressure of the left and decided to stop selling any type of  “assault-style weapon”. The problem is that the AR-15 does not stand for Assault Rifle!

THE AR-15 IS NOT AN ASSAULT RIFLE AND IT IS NOT A MILITARY RIFLE:

According to the National Shooting Sports Foundation, “AR” does not stand for “automatic” or “assaultrifle. It stands for “ArmaLite” — the company that created the AR in the 1950s. And failed 2015 legislation that would have banned some semi-automatic guns did not classify the AR15 as an assault weapon.

TWO NEW IDIOTIC GUN POLICIES BY DICK’S SPORTING GOODS:

Dick’s Sporting Goods, the nation’s largest sporting goods retailer, will stop selling assault-style weapons like the one used in the Parkland, Florida, high school shooting. This knee-jerk reaction after the Florida shooting does absolutely nothing…nada. Gun owners are being shamed and nudged bit by bit to not purchase certain guns or to give up their guns. This is exactly what the left wants and is getting. This comes from the sheeple who still believe government will protect you even though they failed to protect the students at the Florida high school.

THE CEO WAS JUST ON CNN:

DICK’S RAISES AGE FOR GUN SALES:

Obviously, Dick’s has no clue that there are people under 21 who have been using guns for years. How is raising the age to buy a gun going to do anything?

WGN reports:

The company said it will also raise the minimum age for all gun sales to 21. Dick’s will not sell high-capacity magazines that allow shooters to fire far more rounds than traditional weapons without reloading, as well as other accessories used with weapons similar to the AR-15.

The Parkland shooter, Nikolas Cruz, bought a gun at Dick’s. The company said he did not buy the AR-15 that he used in the school shooting there.

The company stopped selling those military-style semiautomatic weapons in its Dick’s-branded stores after the Sandy Hook elementary school shooting in 2012, but it continued to sell those weapons at its 35 Field and Stream stores.

Now it will pull those weapons from all of its stores.

Walmart, the nation’s largest retailer and a major seller of firearms, announced it would stop selling the military-style semiautomatic weapons in August 2015.

There have been widespread calls for tougher gun control measures in the week since the school shooting.
