In the U.S. Senate Committee on Armed Services’ proposed National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), a measure would require women to register for Selective Service.
“Amends the Military Selective Service Act to require the registration of women for Selective Service,” the committee’s proposed NDAA for fiscal year 2025 reads.

The House of Representatives included a measure within this year’s National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) that would automatically register men aged 18 to 26 for Selective Service.
Men 18 To 26 Automatically Registered For Selective Service In NDAA Passed By House
“For the first time since 1972, the NDAA bill passed today by the House would automatically register all males age 18-26 for Selective Service in the Military. For the past 52 years, males were required to register on their own, but compliance had reportedly been lagging,” journalist Michael Tracey wrote.

The defense bill passed the House by a vote of 217 to 199.
The legislation now moves to the Senate.
"Roy was one of the 211 House Republicans who voted in favor of passing the NDAA on Friday," The Blaze noted.
Only three House Republicans voted no in favor of passing the NDAA that includes automatically registering men age 18-26 for Selective Service.
They included:
- Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA)
- Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY)
- Rep. Matt Rosendale (R-MT)
The Blaze reports:
Currently, men are required to register with Selective Service and could be conscripted in the event of a draft.
"Almost all male US citizens and male immigrants, who are 18 through 25, are required to register with Selective Service," according to sss.gov, which notes that the agency's mission is "to register men and maintain a system that, when authorized by the President and Congress, rapidly provides personnel in a fair and equitable manner while managing an alternative-service program for conscientious objectors."
The House passed an NDAA proposal on Friday that includes a section to require the automatic registration of men with Selective Service.
The House-passed NDAA would amend the Military Selective Service Act by inserting language stating, "Except as otherwise provided in this title, every male citizen of the United States, and every other male person residing in the United States, between the ages of eighteen and twenty-six, shall be automatically registered under this Act by the Director of the Selective Service System."
"You Should Not Draft Anyone. Men shouldn't fear being used as cannon fodder either," Spike Cohen commented.

"The draft should be abolished. It is a violation of the 13th amendment prohibition on involuntary servitude. It is state-sanctioned slavery," Connor Boyack, Founder and President of Libertas Institute, said.
