In an apparent effort to downplay the extremism on their own side of the aisle, Democrats seem determined to convince American voters that Republicans are actually the radicals.

One glaring example came from Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), who managed to connect supporters of President Donald Trump’s ‘Make America Great Again’ movement with the 19th-century Democrats who would rather split up the nation than give up their slaves.

As Breitbart reported:

Pressley made the remarks Monday at Roxbury Community College in Boston while campaigning for Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA) in his primary race against Rep. Seth Moulton (D-MA).

“It is bigger than Trump,” Pressley said. “Because whenever we do the work of ousting the occupant of the Oval Office, the Confederacy is still alive and well. That’s all MAGA is.”

“White supremacy is still alive and well,” she continued. “Anti-blackness will still be alive and well.”

Markey is seeking another term in the Senate but faces a Democrat primary challenge from Moulton. Pressley endorsed Markey in March after previously considering a Senate campaign of her own.

Naturally, her incendiary remarks sparked some social media backlash:

Mediaite added these details:

The dig isn’t the only one Pressley’s made at Trump and his supporters this year. In May she said during an MS NOW interview, “I have to just tell the truth: There are people in this hostile anti-Black administration that would rather Black Americans pick cotton than pick the president, than pick their congressperson, than pick a senator.”
