Two New Mexico lawmakers called for the impeachment of Democrat Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham following her unlawful “emergency public health order” to suspend 2nd Amendment rights.
State representatives Stefani Lord (R-Sandia Park) and John Block (R-Alamogordo) called for Grisham’s impeachment for violating her oath to uphold the people’s inalienable rights, KRQE reports.
“We made an oath, which is a promise that we swear that we’re going to uphold the Constitution, the rights of New Mexicans, and she threw that right out the window,” said Rep. Lord.
“I have a newsflash for the Governor: The Second Amendment is an absolute right, and so is my authority to impeach you for violating your oath to New Mexico and the United States,” they wrote in a letter.
“The legislature has a duty to intervene when the government is overstepping its boundaries, and Governor Grisham’s order and comments disqualify her from continuing her tenure as Governor,” the letter added.

KRQE reports:
“I was completely shocked and taken by surprise that she would do such a gross overreach and completely violate the constitution,” said Rep. Lord.
“Our governor, she called for open season on law-abiding citizens by subverting the state and federal constitutions and laws of our state, and that’s something that needs to be remedied immediately,” said Rep. Block.
The governor’s public health order bans open and concealed carry firearms in public spaces throughout Albuquerque and Bernalillo County for 30 days.
This order does not impact law enforcement or licensed security officers and does not impact those who carry a gun on private property. Representatives Lord and Block both say even those on the other side of the political aisle are shocked and angered by this too.
Lord said a Democrat expressed anger with her about the governor’s decision.

“Today I issued a 30-day ban on the open & concealed carrying of guns in Albuquerque and Bernalillo County. Gun violence is killing between 2 and 3 children every month in NM – every single one of these deaths is unconscionable and they must stop,” Grisham stated Friday.

Grisham’s attempt to “suspend” the inalienable rights of her constituents will not deter gun violence.
Grisham sounds like a dictator in this press conference, where she foolishly claims an “emergency” gives her the power to invoke restrictions on free speech.

AP reported:
Lujan Grisham said state police would be responsible for enforcing what amount to civil violations. Albuquerque police Chief Harold Medina said he won’t enforce it, and Bernalillo County Sheriff John Allen said he’s uneasy about it because it raises too many questions about constitutional rights.
The firearms suspension, classified as an emergency public health order, applies to open and concealed carry in most public places, from city sidewalks to urban recreational parks. The restriction is tied to a threshold for violent crime rates currently only met by the metropolitan Albuquerque. Police and licensed security guards are exempt from the temporary ban.
Violators could face civil penalties and a fine of up to $5,000, gubernatorial spokeswoman Caroline Sweeney said. Under the order, residents still can transport guns to some private locations, such as a gun range or gun store, provided the firearm has a trigger lock or some other container or mechanism making it impossible to discharge.
Lujan Grisham acknowledged not all law enforcement officials were on board with her decision.
County sheriff’s, sheriff’s deputies, and policy enforcers (police officers) all take an oath to the same founding documents as the governor.
If they comply with her order, they’re equally complicit with tyranny.
Governor Grisham has effectively suspended the 2nd Amendment in her state using by using COVID “emergency authority.”
Are there any constitutional Sheriffs in New Mexico who will protect their citizens from this tyrannical maniac?
Thanks @MereLiberty for the heads up on this. https://t.co/CGhGz7TYuA
