The stunning news that Kim Jong Un declared that he will suspend all nuclear and missile tests came this afternoon. President Trump immediately tweeted out his approval:

North Korea has agreed to suspend all Nuclear Tests and close up a major test site. This is very good news for North Korea and the World – big progress! Look forward to our Summit.

One of the few journalists who regularly reports from North Korea, phoned in to CNN’s Wolf Blitzer:

A stunned Will Ripley reported:

“Kim Jong Un has announced to his country and his own people that he has completed his nuclear program, and therefore there is no need to continue developing nuclear weapons.”

“This is an extraordinarily significant development, and frankly a huge win for President Trump going into these discussions, this potential summit, with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un,” he continued.

Ripley quoted a North Korean official who had optimistic words about the move: “Finally Kim Jong Un has decided to open up,” the source said. “This is a new chapter for the DPRK. He has committed himself to the path of denuclearization and will now focus solely on economic growth and the national economy. Finally he has realized the best path forward is to open up the country and normalize relations.”

“He is finally being recognized by the international community, and this is an historic, timely opportunity,” the North Korean official concluded.

“Wolf, I have to say, I am really almost speechless here at the pace at which North Korea has done this U-turn,” Ripley reacted. “This all started with Donald Trump agreeing to sit down with a summit with Kim Jong Un.”

EARLIER THIS MONTH TALKS WITH NORTH KOREA WERE ANNOUNCED:

One of the biggest threats to the national security of America and many other countries around the world is the communist regime of North Korea.

Over the last several years, Kim Jong Un and company have been causing a lot of worry by developing a nuclear program, building intercontinental ballistic missiles, and refusing to obey the law concerning tests of these weapons.

This is a mess left behind by former President Obama that our current commander-in-chief has to clean up, and if new reports are true, this might actually happen soon.

The Gateway Pundit has the details:

The North Korean communist regime reportedly is willing to discuss getting rid of its nuclear program.

The regime also suggested that President Trump meet with Kim Jong Un in Mongolia.

China’s Xinhua.net reported:

The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) has told the United States that it was ready to discuss the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula at the planned meeting between the two countries’ leaders, media reports said Sunday citing U.S. officials.

It is believed to be the first time for Pyongyang to convey the message to Washington directly about its intention to denuclearize, seen as a positive step toward the meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and the DPRK’s top leader Kim Jong Un scheduled to take place by the end of May.

The U.S. has confirmed that Kim Jong Un is willing to discuss the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula,” a Trump administration official told the Wall Street Journal on Sunday.

It was not made known when or how the message was delivered, but the U.S. official told media on condition of anonymity that Washington and Pyongyang have held secret contacts recently.

Folks are so quick to criticize Trump as though he doesn’t have a clue what he’s actually doing, but it seems that his strategy involving North Korea is starting to pay off, which is a whole lot more than Obama accomplished on this front.

Let’s hope this meeting actually happens and Kim Jong Un disarms his country. It would be nice to worry about one less thing.
