I’m back with a brand new Sunday Gospel message from our good friend Pastor Robb Goodman.
Today’s message goes straight to something every one of us has wrestled with: the power of our own words.
The tongue is small, but it can steer a life like a rudder, ignite destruction like a spark, or become a source of healing and life.
Pastor Robb walks us through James and Proverbs and asks us to let these verses change the way we speak.
This is a much-needed message. I hope you’ll take some time with it today.

Today’s Sunday message is titled, “The Tongue Creates A World of Iniquity.”
Today’s message is a much needed one. Do we all truly realize the power of our words that we speak?
To be honest, I don’t believe that many believers truly understand this. I have meditated on my verses about the power of the tongue.
I will share some very significant verses with you today. Please take heed to these verses that I will share with you.
May Holy Spirit reveal these deeper truths to you. In Jesus Name Amen.

Happy Sunday morning to you, to everyone that’s listening to this broadcast today.

Holy Moses, we’re into September already.
I know I say that a lot, but I just cannot believe how fast time goes.
Well, our God, our Father, our Jesus, our Holy Spirit is not living in this age of time that we’re living in, but He envelops it all.
He’s the past, the beginning, the future, and the end.
He knows everything before it comes to pass in your life.
Today, I’ve got a wonderful message for you.
I pray that the Lord would bless you today, that he would open up your spiritual eyes and your spiritual ears, that you will hear the word of the Lord today.
After I pray, I will share the title of today’s message with you.

Thank you, Father.
Lord, we just lift up this message to you today, Lord, that you have ordained before the foundation of the world for me to speak to everyone that’s listening today.
Lord, I pray that this word goes forth in power, anointing, grace.
Lord, we come before you in earnest supplication.
Lord, many of us are experiencing heavy duty battles right now from Satan, the evil one.
He knows that his time is short like Revelation 12 declares that he knows his time is short and he is trying to do his best to defy the battle of the Lord and he knows what’s coming his way.
Judgment, swift, harsh judgment is coming.
He knows that he will soon be bound for a thousand years and that will take place.
No one knows the day nor the hour that the Lord would come.
Jesus said he didn’t even know himself.

But God’s timing is perfect.
Totally perfect.
So I pray, Father, that you would bless this message and cause it to go to every nation, every tongue, every tribe.
I put the blood of Jesus on these airwaves today in Jesus mighty name, this cyberspace.
Let the blood of Jesus rest on this message.
Lord, we had a technical issue last week that I could not put up a message, but praise be to God.
This one will go forth today in boldness and in holy power.
In the mighty name of Jesus, we declare it in Jesus Christ’s holy name.
Blessed be the name of the Lord.
I’m going to ask you before I share the title with you, I’m going to ask you to turn to James 3 and we’re going to read verses 1-2.
James 3, verses 1 and 2.
All right.
The title of today’s message is the tongue creates a world of iniquity.
And I’m asking the Lord right now that I’ve meditated on this this scripture in James all throughout this week.
And the Lord has shown me some really cool things.
So quite a few verses to share but I want to share the lot of it with you so that you get the full understanding of what James is trying to to declare unto us.
Amen.
All right.
James teaches us about the deadly poison that words release into our lives.
The tongue is a rudder that steers our lives either in the right or the wrong direction.
And so please take heed to the words that come forth out of your mouth.
It is extremely important.
And blessed be the name of the Lord.
Let’s go ahead and read James 3, verses 1 and 2.
My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment.
You know that that scripture has always pierced me right in the center of my heart because I’ve struggled with sin in my life.
I’ve struggled with times where I’ve not done the right things.
And you know, the enemy would really come at me and really, you know, tell me that a you’re no good.
The Lord will never use you.
The Lord will never do what he’s promised to do in your life because you ruined it.
My brothers and my sisters, that is the voice of the enemy.
Jesus, well, Paul said in Romans, that there is no condemnation to those who were in Christ Jesus who walk not after the flesh but after the spirit.
Why?
Because the law of the spirit of life, the law of the spirit of life has made us free from the law of sin and death.
We’re not under that old law anymore.
We are under the law of the spirit of life.
And we now obtain to the glory of God that now lives within our earthly bodies.
Amen.
So, praise be to God.
We don’t want to receive a stricter judgment.
For we all stumble in many things.
If anyone does not stumble in the words he speaks, now I’m reading out the New King James Version, but I am actually adding that myself.
If anyone does not stumble in the words he speaks, I’m adding that myself.
He is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole entire body.
Now think about that.
Think about that for a minute.
That your tongue, that little thing that comes out of your mouth creates words.
It either creates life or it creates death.
It creates judgment.
It creates condemnation.
It also can create vindication.
We are not to judge our brothers and our sisters.
God tells us this very plainly in his word.
Jesus said, “Judge not and you will not be judged.
Condemn not and neither will you be condemned.”
Praise be to God.
Indeed, we put bits in horses’ mouths that they may obey us and we turn their whole entire body.
Think about that.
Look also at the ships that are on the ocean.
Although they are so large and are driven by fierce and mighty winds, they are turned by a very small rudder.
Wherever the pilot desires for that ship to go, that little rudder and of course all the men onboard and under the ship.
Think about a big ocean liner like the Titanic.
What happened on that day was just unbelievable.
I’ve read many books about it.
There were so many things that happened and of course they all said it was the unsinkable ship that God himself could not sink her.
That was the wrong thing to say.
That put a curse on the Titanic right there.
So we need to be careful what we speak and how we say those words.
So they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires.
Even so the tongue is a tiny member and it boasts great things.
You know pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
It’s very important that we obey the scripture and do what the scripture tells us what to do.
See how great a forest a little fire kindles.
Just think about that.
A little tiny spark can set off an entire forest fire.
You know, a couple of months ago, Canada was raging in forest fires and we could smell the smoke outside our house.
It was unbearable.
I live in Maryland, but wow, what an incredible time that was.
And many people were affected.
Asthmatics, people that had asthma, different respiratory ailments, they were seriously affected by those forest fires that came down from Canada.
It was crazy.
The sky was so weird looking.
All right.
And the tongue is like a fire, a world of iniquity.
The tongue is so set among our members or our other body parts that it defiles the whole body.
Think about that.
The tongue, the words that you speak, it defiles, makes unclean the whole entire body.
We need to take heed to the Spirit of our Father and we need to obey Holy Spirit and we need to do whatever Jesus told us to do.
It defiles the whole body and sets on fire the course of nature and is set on fire by hell itself.
Woo!
Man, that’s powerful, folks.
That is a powerful word right there.
Think about that for a minute.
Just meditate on that.
When I’m done with this message today, please go back and meditate on these scriptures.
They will change you.
The scripture, not the words that I speak, but the scriptures will change you.
For every kind of beast and bird and reptile and creature of the sea is tamed and has been tamed by mankind, but no man can tame the tongue.
It is an unruly evil, unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
With it we bless our God and father and with it we curse men.
We have been made in the similitude or the likeness of God.
Out of the same mouth proceed blessings and cursing.
My brethren, these things ought not to be so.
Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening?
Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grape vine bear figs?
Thus, no spring yields both salt water and fresh water.
Amen.
It’s just amazing when you think about these particular scriptures.
Truly, truly amazing.
All right.
Speaking faith involves declaring God’s truth and promises out loud with confidence and without doubt.
I’m going to say that again.
Speaking faith involves declaring God’s truth and promises out loud out of your mouth with confidence and without doubt.
You know, the Lord spoke to me a couple weeks ago because my wife was sharing with me about how the word of God is a sharp two-edged sword.
And the Lord revealed to us that that sharp two-edged sword, one side of it is what God speaks and the other side is what we speak.
And if we speak the word of God to a situation or a problem, it is like God himself is speaking to it.
So the sharp two-edged sword, it’s living, it’s alive, it’s powerful, sharper than any two-edged sword, pierces even to the dividing of soul and spirit, the joints of the marrow, as a discerner of the thoughts and intents of man’s heart.
Wow, that is mighty, mighty, mighty.
Key scriptures on the power of speaking in faith includes passages like Matthew 17:20 and Mark 11:23 which emphasize that moving mountains requires both unwavering belief and spoken declaration.
So let’s look at Matthew chapter 17 verse 20.
Matthew 17 verse 20.
So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief, for assuredly I say to you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, “Move from here to there, and it will move and nothing will be impossible for you.
However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.
So, it’s really important that we obey God.
So, let’s go to um Mark 11:23.
We’re all very familiar with this scripture.
Actually, I’m going to start at verse 20.
Now in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the very roots.
And Peter remembering said to him, “Rabbi, look, the fig tree which you cursed has withered away.”
So Jesus then answered and said to them, “Have faith in God.”
Or it really says in the original Greek, “Have the God kind of faith.”
Why they didn’t put it that way, I don’t know.
But you know, it is what it is.
Still the word of God.
For surely I say to you, whoever said to this mountain, “Be removed and be cast into sea and does not doubt.”
number one doesn’t doubt but believes that those things which he says or speaks will be done he shall have whatever he says.
Therefore I say to you whatever things you ask when you pray believe that you receive them and you will have them.
Wow.
Powerful, powerful, powerful.
And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him that your father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.
But if you do not forgive, neither will your father in heaven forgive your trespasses.
You know, that scripture always speaks to my heart.
We must make sure that we forgive everyone who’s ever said anything bad about us, who’s ever hurt us, who’s ever robbed us, stolen from whatever it might be.
It’s not an easy thing to do, but it could cost you your eternity.
Praise be to God.

All right, let’s go to 2 Corinthians chapter 4.
2 Corinthians chapter 4 and I’m going to go to verse 10.
Always carrying about in our body the dying of the Lord Jesus that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our earthly body.
Wow, that’s amazing, isn’t it?
So, we need to die to ourselves.
We need to die to our own nature.
We need to die to old thoughts.
We need to put Jesus first in every area of life.
For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake or his purpose, that the life of Jesus also may be manifest in our mortal flesh.
Woo.
So then death is working in us, but life is working in you.
And since we have the same spirit of faith according to what is written: ‘I believed, and therefore I spoke’.
We believe and therefore we speak, knowing that he who raised up the Lord Jesus will also raise us up with Jesus and will present us with you.
For all things are for your sakes, that grace having spread through the many causes thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God.
Wow.
Therefore, we do not lose heart.
Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.
For our light affliction which is but only for a short moment in time.
It can’t compare you know whatever you’re suffering on earth right now.
It cannot compare to the glory of God that will one day be revealed in you when you stand before the Lord and you’ve obeyed him to the best of your ability.
Remember there is therefore now no condemnation, no condemnation.
And we will stand before the bema seat judgment of the Lord.
That is a judgment of our works.
We will not be judged according to our iniquity because we’ve asked the Lord to forgive us and to cleanse us and we’ve chosen to follow Jesus and to obey him For our light afflictions.
but for a moment is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.
While we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen.
For the things which are seen are only temporary.
They’re just temporary compared to eternity eternity.
They are temporary.
But the things which are not seen are eternal.
They are forever.
And because your name has been written in the Lamb’s book of life.
And if it hasn’t been, you know that it’s not.
I want you to pray with me at the end of this message today and receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and your Savior and submit to him.
Submit to him and obey him.
Wow.
Blessed be the name of Jesus.
Hallelujah.
So 2 Corinthians 4:13 connects belief directly to speaking through the spirit of faith.
While Romans 10:17 notes that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.
Now, something I’ve said to my people many, many times, and I’ll say it again because it’s worthy of being said over and over again.
That scripture actually says that faith comes by hearing and hearing and hearing and hearing and hearing more and hearing more.
Whether it’s the written word, the spoken word, the preached word of God, the Spirit of revelation and the knowledge of Jesus Christ being poured forth into you, it will manifest the life of Jesus in your mortal flesh right inside of us.
It will manifest.
And praise be to God, we need to believe that many people, as I said in the beginning, are going through a lot of serious attacks by the enemy.
But God has a plan for you.
God has a living legacy that he wants you to live out, that he planned before the foundation of the world.
He knew everything that was going to happen in your life before you were even born on the face of the earth.
It’s amazing.
Just absolutely amazing.
I need to drink some of my coffee.
I’m drinking that wonderful Costa Rican coffee again.

Faith is truly connected to the words that we speak.
All right, let’s go to James 1 verse 19.
Actually, I might go back a little bit.
So, let me get back to the book of James.
Let’s go back to verse 16.
Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father of lights.
It actually says it plural.
The father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth that we might be a kind of first fruits of his creature.
Now think about that.
In the Lord the Father of lights, there is no variation or shadow of turning.
Everything is yes and amen to the glory of God by and through us.
The word of God declares we are yes and amen.
We’re not, you know, give a little bit, take a little bit, you know, well, I’m not living just perfectly right, so, you know, everything’s okay.
No, you want to live in the fullness of the glory of God because nothing on this earth can compare to it.
I’m being completely serious with you.
So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.
For the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.
Wow, man.
I’m telling you what, that is powerful right there.
That is powerful word.
All right, let’s share some things.
What does this actually mean quick to listen?
Pay close attention to what other people say before you judge or give advice.
Try to understand their side first.
Now, that’s really important because we’re we’re quick to judge sometimes.
You know, we’re quick to think it’s it’s so much easier for us to think something that’s not right with somebody else rather than inflict that on the inside of us and think, you know, do I do those things?
Am I guilty of those same besetting sins?
Think about it.
Slow to speak.
Pause and think carefully before you answer.
This helps you avoid hurtful words and misunderstandings.
Does it not?
Yes, it does.
Slow to anger.
Stay calm and do not let your emotions take control too fast.
So, those words are extremely important.
They’re extremely important that we pay attention and be swift.
Swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to wrath.
Amen.
Or slow to anger.
All right, let’s go to Proverbs 18.
Proverbs 18.
Proverbs 18.
Thank you, Lord.
And we’re going to start in verse 18.
Casting lots causes contentions to cease and keeps the mighty apart.
A brother offended is harder to win than a strong city.
Wow, that’s powerful, isn’t it?
Someone that’s offended, it’s harder to win them than a strong and mighty city.
And contentions are like the bars of a castle.
A man’s stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth.
From the produce of his lips, he shall be filled.
Wow.
So this is saying that the tongue again the words of our mouth the tongue has a created power that will either bring forth life or death.
It’ll bring forth division or it’ll bring forth unity.
