If there was anyone from the anti-2a gun-grabbing crowd at this event, then they can thank a good guy with a gun because America has a new hero who just saved hundreds of people from the potential of being shot by a bad guy with a gun who opened fired at a crowded back-to-school event.

The large crowd at a Florida park was having a back-to-school cookout and that’s when the peaceful event turned into an absolute nightmare. A fistfight broke out and one of the men who was allegedly involved in the fight returned to the scene with a gun. That’s when it turned crazy as the man reportedly opened fire at the crowded park, sending people into a frenzy. Low and behold, there was a legally armed man nearby who took actions into his own hands and fired a few rounds into the suspect, ending the threat to the crowd and saving lives. The only person who was reported to be injured was the suspect who opened fire in the crowded park. The bystander and those around the scene of the crime were uninjured.

It’s a shame that people couldn’t enjoy a peaceful cookout to celebrate peace and get ready for students going back to school. This is supposed to be an event where friends and family are spending time together, enjoying a bright day during the summer. Of course, there’s always one person who likes to taint the party with their bad behavior.

People blame guns, but what some people forget is that the man was fistfighting at a large family outing and then irresponsibly was firing a gun where kids were present. This was a huge human error on part of the suspect who now might pass away thanks to his anger and brandishing a weapon the wrong way. The man who shot the suspect saved everyone else from the threat of being shot during the cookout. Many people are thanking this man today and he’s become a hero out of nowhere.

This is yet again another time where a legally armed bystander has saved the lives of those in danger from someone using a firearm illegally and breaking the law.

The video posted on YouTube is frightening.

Fox News covered the story, offering more details about what happened and offering a statement from the police Deputy Chief.

“We are extremely grateful that nobody else was injured in this incident,” Deputy Chief Todd Hutchinson said in a statement. “This suspect opened fire at a crowded public park. This could have been so much worse.”

The gunman, whose firearm was recovered at the scene, was airlifted to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. No one else was injured during the shootout.

A DJ whose family organized the event at the park told Florida Today he was standing under a pavilion when he heard at least a dozen shots ring out.

Dwight Harvey was streaming the event live on his Facebook page when the shooting started. Children and parents could be seen in the video going through supplies when the shots suddenly rang out, WFTV reported.

“I was like, who lit firecrackers? I turned around and just said, ‘Oh no, he’s got a gun, he’s got a gun,’” Harvey told the newspaper.

Harvey told the news outlet he was thankful the bystander was in the right place at the right time to quickly end what could have been an even worse situation.

“This was standing your ground, in a situation like this with kids involved; not what you saw in Clearwater — that was murder,” Harvey told Florida Today, referring to a controversial shooting last month over a handicapped parking space that’s sparked protests.”

It’s also reported that the person who shot the criminal patiently waited for the police and that no charges will be pressed.

Of course not, because you don’t press charges on a hero.
