Dressed in Handmaid’s Tale Costumes, Planned Parenthood Members gathered to burn the American flag in response to Tennessee Governor Bill Lee’s passing of a state bill banning abortion after a fetal heartbeat can be detected.

As reported by The Federalist – an activist wearing a mask lit the flag on fire in the bed of a pickup truck and threw it in a trashcan while others chanted and watch the scene before extinguishing the fire.

One woman, dressed as Lady Liberty, waved a white-and-red striped flag lacking stars and announced that the destruction of the old would lead to the creation of a “new world order.” The small cluster of supporters broke into chants of “What do we want? Justice. When do we want it? Now.”

The small gathering took place directly outside Gov Lee’s residence. The Tennessee state house passes the heartbeat bill on June 19, and since Lee introduced the legislation, he is expected to take up the pen and sign it into law sooner than later.

The passed bill outlaws abortions after the detection of a heartbeat – normally around six weeks – but exempts mothers who are at risk for health complications. It also prevents abortions on the basis of a baby’s race, sex, or disability diagnosis. Prior to ever abortion, an ultrasound will be required to ensure a heartbeat cannot be detected.

A HUGE WIN FOR THE PRO-LIFE MOVEMENT.

“One of the most important things we can do to be pro-family is to protect the rights of the most vulnerable in our state, and there is none more vulnerable than the unborn,” Lee said. “We have passed the strongest pro-life law in our state’s history.”

Just hours after passing, Planned Parenthood joined forces with the American Civil Liberties Union and the Center for Reproductive Rights to file a lawsuit against the bill in federal court.

Playing on both the viral and social plague threatening the country, Alexis McGill Johnson, CEO of Planned Parenthood, made remarks after the bill passed saying that the law takes advantage of the COVID-19 crisis and unfairly impacts black Tennesseans.

As protests and riots over racial injustice emerged nationwide within the last month, Republican Senate candidate Bill Hagerty said this flag-burning demonstration is just another example of far-left radicalism. Hagerty claims the liberal mob has officially arrived in Tennessee.

The liberal mob, he said, has now officially arrived in Tennessee – a state that voted nearly 60.7% for President Trump.

“This behavior disrespects America and those who have been willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for our precious freedom,” he said. “What we need now, more than ever, is law and order.”
