Tone-deaf President of the American Federation of Teachers Randi Weingarten retweeted an op-ed from the Washington Post that claims parents have no right to shape kids’ school curriculum. Weingarten has stood by the claim that parents have no rights in school and believes that Critical Race Theory is just fine to teach in the classroom. This far-left activist masquerades as a concerned teacher, but she’s really a far-left political hack who agrees that protesting parents are domestic terrorists.
The headline comes right at parents: “Parents claim they have the right to shape their kids’ school curriculum. They don’t.” The piece goes on to claim the push for parental rights is a political tactic leveraging White grievances.

After Weingarten retweeted the op-ed, she was slammed with negative comments over 1,000 comments from angry Americans.

Comments like the one below are from both sides of the aisle:

Holy shit. I don’t know where to start. But the “sudden interest in parental rights” is not a political tactic. It’s a response to the insane restrictions our children continue to be subjected to at the behest of people like you. Just stop!

And this comment:

Nearly 75% of the property taxes I pay annually go to the local public school system. This gives me the right to help shape the curriculum of what my kids are taught. You think it’s okay to tax me for something I have no say in?

I think the author needs to brush up on the concept (in political philosophy) of “by the consent of the governed” To be clear, parents have every right to shape what their children are to be taught in public school.

Just weeks ago, Union Boss Randi Weingarten agreed with the letter from the National School Boards Association (NSBA) sent to Biden last month (see below) that calls protesting parents “domestic terrorists”…

She assumes that parents have been violent at board meetings when that is not the case. Parents have been angry because they feel they aren’t being listened to by the school board. The truth is they haven’t been listened to and have been cut off from speaking via tactics to silence them. School boards have abruptly canceled meetings and have cut off parents while they’re talking. The disrespect for parents has been shocking.

Listen below as Weingarten claims to have been on the “front lines” of protests and describes the protests from parents like they are the enemy.

Who has been violent? Who has been bullied?

A letter sent to Biden last month from the NSBA is complete overkill.

A portion of the letter discusses domestic terrorism and hate crimes but there are zero instances of anything close to this from parents at school board meetings:

As these acts of malice, violence, and threats against public school officials have increased, the classification of these heinous actions could be the equivalent to a form of domestic terrorism and hate crimes. As such, NSBA requests a joint expedited review by the U.S. Departments of Justice, Education, and Homeland Security, along with the appropriate training, coordination, investigations, and enforcement mechanisms from the FBI, including any technical assistance necessary from, and state and local coordination with, its National Security Branch and Counterterrorism Division, as well as any other federal agency with relevant jurisdictional authority and oversight. Additionally, NSBA requests that such review examine appropriate enforceable actions against these crimes and acts of violence under the Gun-Free School Zones Act, the PATRIOT Act in regards to domestic terrorism, the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act, the Violent Interference with Federally Protected Rights statute, the Conspiracy Against Rights statute, an Executive Order to enforce all applicable federal laws for the Preclusion of Further Threats and Violence Against Students and Educators.
