This will make your day! President Donald Trump will not be attending this year’s White House Correspondents’ Association dinner on April 28.

Instead, he will be holding a rally in Michigan….

According to a statement from the White House obtained by Bloomberg News, “While the fake news media will be celebrating themselves with the denizens of Washington society in the swamp that evening, President Trump will be in a completely different Washington, celebrating…with patriotic Americans.”

Mediaite reports:

The White House’s announcement comes on the same day as Trump declared in a press-antagonizing post that “much of the media is a scam!” and just so happens to be exactly what Trump did last year in lieu of attending the annual dinner.

Last April, with the Correspondents’ Dinner held on the same day as Trump’s 100th day in office, Trump, who already had a well-rehearsed antagonistic relationship with the press, announced he planned to hold a mega-rally in Harrisburg to mark the accomplishments that set for the same time as the correspondents’ dinner.

At the time, the White House said the decision to hold a parallel event had nothing to do with the press.

“The media is trying to make this about them when, respectfully, it has nothing to do with you guys,” the official said, according to Politico. “It’s about focusing on the people.”

This time around, according to the White House, the White House has made it clear it is about the media, stressing Trump would simply prefer to be with “patriotic Americans” instead of part of the “fake news” celebration.
