The impeachment of President Trump began today at 1:00 p.m. ET. Sekulow called out Democrats on their effort to destroy the president since the beginning:

Chief counsel for President Trump criticized lead House impeachment manager Adam Schiff wasted no time in demolishing Adam Schiff on executive privilege by using Schiff’s own words.

Sekulow points out that Schiff wrote in Politico in 2012:

“The White House assertion of privilege is backed by decades of precedent that has recognized the need for the president and his senior advisers to receive candid advice and information from their top aides.”

He called out Schiff’s false representations: “not the first time Mr. Schiff has put words into transcripts that did not exist”

Sekulow refers to the Constitution and then asks:

“Why are we here? Are we here because of a phone call? Or are we here, before this great body, because since the president was sworn into office there was a desire to see him removed?”
