President Trump has spoken out on the “unfortunate” departure of his personal assistant Madeleine Westerhout.

He described her comments to reporters at an off-the-record gathering as “hurtful.”
The president said he spoke with Westerhout who said she had been drinking when she made the remarks:

“She told me she was very upset. She was very down. She said she was drinking. She was with reporters, and everything she said was off the record. I think the press was very dishonest. Because it was supposed to be off the record.”

The president told reporters before boarding Marine One on Friday that the comments were a “little bit hurtful.”

According to Politico, Westerhout shared intimate details about the president’s family, including Tiffany Trump:

Reports say that Westerhout had unflattering things to say about the relationship between the president and Tiffany as well as derogatory things about her weight.

THE DAILY MAIL is reporting that the 28-year-old is revealed to have told them that Trump thinks his younger daughter Tiffany, 26, is overweight and does not want to be in photos with her. She also bragged that she had a better relationship with him than Ivanka, 37, his elder daughter and one of his senior advisers. It has also been revealed she spoke about his youngest son Barron, and that she had discussed Trump’s eating habits.

President Trump responded to the comments from Westerhout to set the record straight:

“Tiffany is great. I love Tiffany.”

The president went on to say that Westerhout did a “good job” and that the whole thing was “very unfortunate”.

While Madeleine Westerhout has a fully enforceable confidentiality agreement, she is a very good person, and I don’t think there would ever be a reason to use it. She called me yesterday to apologize, had a bad night. I fully understood and forgave her! I love Tiffany, doing great!

OUR PREVIOUS REPORT ON WESTERHOUT:

The New York Times is reporting that President Donald Trump’s longtime personal assistant, Madeline Westerhout, has resigned.

Westerhout had been with the Trump administration and served as a personal aide to the president since he came into office.

The Times story reports that President Trump discovered that Westerhout told intimate details about his family and the White House with the press during a dinner. She was immediately barred from the White House grounds and labeled a “separated employee.”

She officially resigned from her job on Thursday.

Westerhout is a College of Charleston graduate with deep ties to the Republican establishment:

According to the South Carolina Post and Courier, Westerhout landed at the highest level after acting as the “greeter girl” for dignitaries and other prospective administration workers called to visit the president-elect at Trump Tower in New York after the election.

Before landing with Trump, Westerhout had been assistant to Republican National Committee Chief of Staff Katie Walsh and interned for Mitt Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign.

The report from the Times also indicates that former Trump administration official John Kelly was the one who sold Trump on the gatekeeping job that Westerhaut had of who meets with and talks to the president.

The left is on social media salivating for some scoop from Westerhaut, but she does have that confidentiality agreement. How long will it be before she’s hired by CNN or writes a tell-all book?
