A Charlotte woman is facing charges after police say she put a cricket on her plate of food in order to get a free meal from a restaurant.

Shatanya Arielette Beasley is facing charges of obtaining property under false pretense. She was arrested Friday afternoon and was released several hours later.

Police say the 26-year-old complained about a cricket in her food at the Applebee’s on Franklin Boulevard Wednesday and got a free meal.

That’s when the restaurant manager says he saw a bag of crickets in Beasley’s wallet after she left it on the table. He told her she’d need to pay for her food, but Beasley and her son reportedly left without paying.

An employee wrote down her license plate number and police were able to track her down and issued warrants for her.
