Pop sensation Justin Timberlake appeared virtually Friday in a court hearing related to his DWI case on Long Island.

“Timberlake pleaded not guilty Friday to a revised misdemeanor charge of driving drunk in June in the waterfront village about 100 miles from New York City,” Deadline reports.

Sag Harbor Village Justice Carl Irace suspended Timberlake’s driver’s license in New York.

According to TMZ, the judge cited Timberlake refusing a Breathalyzer test when cops pulled him over.

Per Deadline:

The next court hearing is a lawyer conference scheduled for Friday, August 9 that Timberlake isn’t required to attend. He could be compelled to appear in person at future hearings as early as September 13, but Irace held off on that determination for now.

Timberlake is currently on a world tour in Europe, and appeared in court today by a video link from Germany, his lawyer, Edward D. Burke Jr., said afterwards.

During the hearing, Burke withdrew his previous motion to dismiss the case after the judge questioned its timing, substance and value to his client.

Irace also threatened Burke with a gag order, but did not impose one yet, for Burke’s comments outside court last week, telling the attorney, “It comes off as an attempt to poison the case before it even begins.”

In those comments, which were delivered without Timberlake present, Burke said flatly that his client “was not intoxicated” when Sag Harbor Village police officers pulled him over in June, and he criticized the arresting officer as a “young” and “part time.” Burke didn’t make those same claims inside the court on that earlier occasion — a divergence noted today by Irace — but instead attacked the case on procedural grounds because the arresting officer’s supervisor didn’t sign off on the original criminal complaint.

TMZ reports:

Unclear exactly how long the suspension will remain in place — presumably, until the case wraps. Worth noting … this is SOP in NY — the law requires the DMV to suspend a driver’s license if they refuse a breathalyzer for up to a year. So … this was already coming.

BTW … Justin’s attorney, Ed Bruke Jr., was also reportedly reprimanded at the hearing … with Justice Carl Irace saying he made “irresponsible” comments when he appeared in court and tried to get the case tossed last month. The judge also threatened a gag order, if Ed keeps yapping. Ed heavily criticized the judicial process last week — and even suggested there was some sort of “fix” in place from the top down … yeah, it was a harsh rebuke.

Remember … Justin was pulled over after leaving The American Hotel in Sag Harbor — after cops say they observed him blow through a stop sign and weave on a residential street.

Cops say they asked Justin to step out of the car and perform a series of sobriety tests … all of which they say Timberlake completely bombed. Police arrested him on one count of DWI.
