We have the answers on why Homeland Security Investigation agents arrested a Delta Airlines pilot on Saturday night.

As the WLT Report reported, a Delta Air Lines pilot was arrested inside the cockpit shortly after landing at San Francisco International Airport.

Now, new details of the arrest have revealed that the pilot was arrested on charges of possessing child sexual abuse materials.

Fox Business reported more details on the arrest:

The dramatic arrest happened at San Francisco International Airport on Saturday night, according to reporting by The San Francisco Chronicle.

The outlet reported that the flight from Minneapolis landed around 9:35 p.m. after being delayed on approach twice due to heavy fog.

Once the plane parked at the terminal gate, passengers began to exit normally until chaos ensued.

One passenger, Sarah Christianson, told the publication in an email that a group of about 10 individuals with “badges, guns, and different agency vests/markings” pushed their way up the aisle to the cockpit, where the co-pilot was located.

They then “stormed the cockpit” before arresting the co-pilot and walking him down the aisle and off the plane through cabin doors between Coach and First-Class sections of the aircraft, she explained to the publication.

The aviation blog, “A View From the Wing” shared video of the incident showing law enforcement leaving the cockpit area of the plane.

Here is the moment HSI agents boarded the plane:

A witness shared the details with ABC 7 News on how the arrest went down:

Sarah, who frequently travels this route, said passengers had just started to gather their belongings from the overhead bins when the agents rushed in.

“They barged through and stormed the cockpit,” she said. “They removed the co-pilot, cuffed him, presumably arrested him, and brought him back down the aisle to deplane.”

She counted at least 10 agents on board, some wearing badges she recognized from the Department of Homeland Security.

ABC7 News reached out to the Department of Homeland Security. A spokesperson referred our inquiry to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. As of Sunday night, we are still awaiting a response. Delta Airlines also referred our inquiry to law enforcement.

“I don’t know if this person was disappearing before our eyes, if there had been a crime committed, or what exactly was happening,” Sarah said. She added that fellow passengers, flight attendants and even the remaining pilot appeared just as confused by the situation. Despite arriving safely, the incident stayed with her long after she left the airport.

“It was scary. It was traumatic to watch,” she said. “As soon as my husband picked me up from baggage claim, I jumped in the car and cried. Because who knows what’s happening to that poor person? Why that happened? What did we just see?”
