A large police response is being reported in Los Angeles for at least one shooter from a rooftop.

All reporting now points to at least three confirmed victims — their status unknown.

Initial reports relying on scanner traffic have indicated two suspects seen running to the roof, or top floors of the building, but there are currently conflicting accounts:

However, those reports have not been verified, and most reporting is now centering on a single suspect.

The incident is ongoing in South Los Angeles, as initially reported by the local Fox News affiliate out of Los Angeles:

The Los Angeles Police Department responded to a shooting call in the 7000 block of Denver Avenue, located near the intersection of S. Figueroa Street and W. Florence Ave., in South LA’s Vermont-Slauson area around 10:50 a.m.

Aerial images from SkyFOX showed heavy police presence and a large perimeter has been established in the area.

No further information was immediately available.

A single suspect is just now reported to be in custody, per local reporting:

And the location of the shooting has now been identified as an assisted living facility.

The early reports of three victims is holding true so far, though their conditions are still not being revealed.

The fact that emergency services responded with three ambulances is hopefully a good indicator, as is now being reported by KTLA 5 out of Los Angeles:

Police are responding to a shooting involving multiple people inside of a South Los Angeles assisted living facility Monday morning.

Officers responded to the 7000 block of Denver Avenue at 10:50 a.m. for the reported shooting and requested an ambulance for three patients, LAPD said.

Their conditions are currently unknown.

Police have established a perimeter around the shooting scene, and emergency services are responding.

Dorothy Mobley, a caregiver who was inside the building at the time of the shooting, said she had just walked in when a custodian who works in the building, who was standing at the desk, said, “I’m tired of this.” That’s when he pulled out a gun and started shooting, she said.

Mobley then ran out of the building.

The suspected shooter is currently in custody. Police have not yet confirmed any details about the suspect’s identity or a possible motive for the shooting. (Emphasis added.)

Dorothy Mobley, the witness who gave that account for KTLA 5, has also been interviewed on camera about what she saw.

She recounts the details of the moment when the suspect apparently decided to pull out a gun and start shooting people.

Amazingly, Mobley described the suspect as “a nice guy” who didn’t bother anybody.

That discussion recounted by Mobley took place at the front desk, according to her account.

There is no further information on what that conversation may have been prior to Mobley’s arrival on scene, or what may have actually caused the suspect to go on a rampage.

The man’s identity is also not yet being released, and no motive has so far been put forward by Police.

UPDATE: 3:25PM CST

Neither the suspect’s identity nor a possible motive have been release by authorities.

But all three victims have now been identified as employees at the assisted living facility — and not patients — according to the New York Post:

All three people wounded in the shooting worked at the facility, authorities said. One of the victims was hospitalized in critical condition, while the other two were listed in stable condition.

LAPD described the victims as a 40-year-old Hispanic woman, a 70-year-old Black woman and a 60-year-old Black man. Their names have not been released.

Police also revealed during a news conference that the suspected gunman was employed at the assisted living facility.

The suspected shooter was taken into custody, authorities said.

Police have not released the suspect’s identity or disclosed what may have sparked the shooting.

Fox News has also covered a press conference with details of the shooting related by Los Angeles authorities.

During that press conference, Police did confirm that the suspect was also an employee of the facility.

This remains a developing story.
