Authorities are investigating after a U-Haul truck was driven into security barriers near the White House on Monday night. According to Secret Service officials, the driver was taken into custody swiftly following the crash.

According to Fox News, Secret Service officer Guglielmi gave a statement detailing what happened and noting that no one was injured,

“Shortly before 10:00 p.m. Monday, Secret Service Uniformed Division officers detained the driver of a box truck after the vehicle collided with security barriers on the north side of Lafayette Square at 16th Street.”

Guglielmi also said it is believed the crash may have been intentional. D.C. Fire and EMS were also dispatched to the scene.

Twitter exploded as users questioned the media narrative, pointing out how strange the photo with the Nazi flag front and center is,

“Let me get this straight…so you are telling me a guy with a Nazi flag in an empty Haul Truck randomly plowed into a White House barricade at low speeds, then gave up immediately and got arrested, and the FBI laid out the flag in front of the truck for the perfect photo op?”

Another Twitter user posted a video of the incident. According to an eyewitness, the haul driver rammed the barricade more than once. “Chris says he was walking home from his run on the mall when he witnessed the Haul driver ram the barricade at Lafayette Park near the White House a second time. ‘I decided it was time to get the hell out of there,’ he says.”

And while the media may continue to push a divisive narrative that the incident was the work of a ‘white supremacist,’ Karol Markowicz shared a photo of the alleged driver, “Breaking News: I have a very reliable tip that the driver of the U-haul that crashed into Lafayette Square near the White House gate is Sai Varshith Kandula. This pic is from his Missouri Driver’s License.” Clearly Sai Varshith Kandula is not a white supremacist.

Another Twitter user showed the Nazi flag next to the U-haul and said the driver “is being charged under 18 US Code 879 – Threats against former Presidents and certain other persons. Police searched the vehicle with a robot and only found the Nazi flag.”
