Carjackings in America have recently skyrocketed. The carjackings in D.C. have tripled since this time last year. With the recent murder of a D.C. Uber driver, more attention has been on preventing the frightening crime from happening.
One 82-year-old Atlanta man knows how to prevent a carjacking better than any young whippersnapper. Watch the video below where the man isn’t going to put up with the young carjacking thug.
Atlanta police are asking for help finding the carjacker who attacked the brave 82-year-old who refused to be a victim.
The surveillance video that was released yesterday shows a teenager waiting at a gas station. He walks up to the older man who was standing at the pump. The two exchanged words, and then the teen pulled out a gun to carjack the older man.
The older man jumped on the teen with the gun, and then he chased the teen across the parking lot before tackling him like a pro. The man ripped off the teen carjacker’s mask, and then the man was able to escape to the gas station. The carjacker, described as having “dreadlocks,” got in the man’s car but then ran off, dropping the man’s key on the sidewalk.

Thankfully, the 82-year-old only sustained minor injuries.

Two teen girls, ages 15 and 13, are in custody and face murder charges over UberEats driver Mohammad Anwar’s death. The 66-year-old immigrated from Pakistan and has three children. His family says he came to America to make a better life for his family.
Washington, DC, and the nation have seen carjackings skyrocket (see report below). What’s more disturbing is teens are doing carjackings. DC authorities weighed in recently, blaming the lockdown (see below) and virtual classrooms for the need to commit a crime.
DC Police report that the two girls planned to carjack someone, but it’s unclear why they chose Mr. Anwar. Their weapon for the crime was a stun-gun.
Navy Yard Metro station was where Mr. Anwar picked up the two girls. According to eyewitnesses, he drove to Nationals Park, where an argument and then a struggle between the girls and the man happened. The DC Police believe Mr. Anwar had left the Honda but was wedged between the door and the driver’s seat when the girls allegedly put the car in gear. The car moved forward with Mr. Anwar holding on, and he was eventually ejected from the car. In the video below, the girls can be seen being pulled out of the car that turned on its side when it came to a stop.
This is not fun and games anymore. The New York Post reports the teens are charged with felony murder and armed carjacking.
“Anwar was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend who always provided a smile when you needed one. He leaves behind a family, near and far, who cherish, love, and miss him dearly. Words can not describe how our family is feeling currently.”

A 12-year old and an accomplice attempted to carjack four different drivers in the DC area, and the DC police are saying it’s because the kids aren’t in school. There are millions of kids not in school, but they don’t go out and carjack people. Making excuses for thuggish behavior from a 12-year old only invites more bad behavior. The incident is part of a rise in carjackings across America but is it just “idle time”?
The two carjackers threatened all four victims with a gun. The first three attempts were unsuccessful, but when they pulled the gun on their fourth victim, she got out of her car. They drove away in the victim’s car, but the 12-year old was soon apprehended. The second suspect has not been apprehended.
The DC area has seen carjackings skyrocket, and the criminals are getting younger. The reasons given by police are two-fold. They say kids have too much “idle time” and that people are going through hard times during the pandemic.
According to FOX5DC, local police officials have suggested that schools, many of which have been closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, have suggested that kids are more prone to have idle time without the focus provided by schools.
“I can just say that when you have people out of school with a lot more time on their hands, I think that’s a large part of it,” said Detective Sargent Rob Grims, who also mentioned the financial hardship many families are going through in this pandemic.
The excuses given by authorities are laughable. The kids need consequences for their crimes and NOT excuses.
Another DC official said, “Young people need to be engaged; that’s just the bottom line. They need to be engaged in proactive developmental activities with caring adults; that’s what school is. It’s certainly a factor.”
