In the video below, Shane Fuhrman, the mayor of Silverton, Colorado, announces at a trustee meeting that the Pledge of Allegiance will be suspended due to “direct and indirect threats.” The mayor takes it upon himself to cancel a critical moment that should be a part of the meeting. He used vague reasons and had not even discussed his move before the meeting. He even says, “It’s not up for discussion.”

The people took matters into their own hands and stood to recite the Pledge.
