The Democratic debate got heated tonight when Cory Booker referred to “my community” during a back and forth about Joe Biden’s record on criminal justice reform:
“There’s a saying in my community. You’re dipping into the Kool-aid, and you don’t even know the flavor.”
The two Democrats debated the criminal justice reform by Biden in the 1990s that increased penalties for crimes committed and therefore increased the federal prison population:
“There are people in prison right now for drug offenses because you stood up and used that tough on crime rhetoric that got a lot of people elected but destroyed lives in communities like mine.” – Senator Cory Booker
