Second Amendment hero Judge Roger Benitez has ruled to end California’s 3-decades long ban on “assault weapons.” The judge ruled that:

The state’s definition of illegal military-style rifles unlawfully deprives law-abiding citizens of weapons commonly allowed in most other states.

Gavin Newsom calls the San Diego judge’s ruling “a direct threat to public safety” and promises to appeal the decision:

Early this morning, Governor Newsom tweeted: “Overturning CA’s assault weapon ban and comparing an AR-15 to a SWISS ARMY KNIFE is a disgusting slap in the face to those who have lost loved ones to gun violence. This is a direct threat to public safety and innocent Californians. We won’t stand for it.”

The judge clearly did not compare the lethality of an “assault weapon” and a Swiss Army Knife. Instead, he compares the illegality of denying law-abiding citizens the right to legal home defense weapons, be they a knife or a dreaded rifle.

Using Newsom’s own argument, one could make the case that the creation of sanctuary cities is a slap in the face to those who lost loved ones to violent criminals that are here illegally.
