Fox News host Maria Bartiromo asked Donald Trump on ‘Sunday Morning Futures’ when he’ll announce his vice president.

“Not for a while,” Trump replied.

Bartiromo asked Trump about his criteria to identify his running mate for the 2024 presidential election.

“Always it’s gotta be one thing. It’s gotta be who would be a good president. You always have to think that cause in case of [an] emergency,” he said.

“Who is your running mate?” Bartiromo questioned.

“We have a lot of really good people,” Trump answered.

“So you haven’t decided who it is,” she said.

Trump proceeded to mention two names during the discussion.

Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) and South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem.

“You know I called Tim Scott, because a lot of people like Tim Scott, I called him and I said ‘you’re a much better candidate for me than you are for yourself,'” Trump said.

“Kristi Noem has been incredible fighting for me. She said I’d never run against him because I can’t beat him. That was a very nice thing to say,” he added.

Trump also addressed rumors his team reached to Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for vice president.

The Hill reports:

Scott and Noem’s names have been among several circulating in recent months. Others include Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.), a staunch Trump ally who has appeared on the campaign trail.

Trump holds a wide lead over his remaining major GOP challenger, former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley, and is coming off of victories in New Hampshire and Iowa.

National polling indexes from The Hill and Decision Desk HQ show Trump with a 57.2 point lead over the former South Carolina governor, while the former president has a 30.8 point lead in Haley’s home state, which is slated to hold its primary later this month.

The New York Post added:

Trump said he won’t announce his VP pick for a “while” and also fessed up to making personnel mistakes in his first term.

“Of course, but everybody does. Obama had. What about Biden? Look at the people running this Biden thing. The difference is, I fire people,” Trump said when pressed by host Maria Bartiromo. “I fired Comey. I got rid of him.”

The 77-year-old former president explained that he had been an outsider before taking office in 2016 and now has more familiarity with political talent.

“I also know people that I didn’t know before. I know now the smart ones. I know the dumb ones. I know the weak ones and the strong ones.”

Trump revealed he intends to bring some old Cabinet members back in a hypothetical second term.
